Zack Powell is busy healing and training after PFC 13
Zack “Pow Pow” Powell (3-0) is busy healing and keeping up his training while waiting for the world of MMA to open up again.
The 23-year-old lightweight beat Adam De Freitas (1-1) by unanimous decision on March 8 at PFC 13: Unfinished Business.
Speaking of his nickname, “Pow Pow” told The Scrap it not only reflects his explosive, dynamic style, but the name is also “catchy and cool sounding”. The Dodge Sports prospect admits he’s had a lot more exposure and eyes on him since signing with the management company last year. The Quebec native said he has more sponsorships as a result and it’s basically made life as a professional athlete a lot easier.
Powell said his training has not really been affected by COVID-19 so far. He is still recovering from a few injuries from his fight and continues to keep up his cardio and physio work. “Other than not grappling nothing has changed much,” he explained. On the day of his interview, Powell had plans to “Stay locked inside maybe going for a run and that’s about it”.
When asked to pretend he was a doctor who had to solve the coronavirus situation, Powell said he agrees with the current recommendations. “Social distancing is key. We need to deal with it smartly and stop it from spreading quickly.”
A food he would use to put in the vaccination for the virus is avocados. He didn’t really explain his reasoning, but must really love the buttery, rich fruit!
