WWE Raw: Results, Highlights, and Grades for July 23, 2018

Last week on Raw, two matches were set for the right to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Sasha Banks and Bayley are one step closer to becoming friends and Ronda Rousey violated her suspension, again.

This week, a #1 contender’s match between Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns is advertised, along with the Raw Tag Team Championship rematch from Extreme Rules. The WWE also announced via Twitter, that Finn Balor would be taking on Drew McIntyre and the Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, will return to Raw tonight with what promises to be a historic announcement.

Superstars from both Raw and SmackDown were lined up as Triple H, Stephanie and Mr. McMahon addressed the WWE universe.

Triple H calls the women forward and priases them, while re-capping all the historic moments that have happened recently. Stephanie grabs the mic and begins to thank everyone for tuning in to the women, every week, allowing this to happen.

Announcement: First the first time ever, over 50 women will participate in the all-women’s pay-per-view, WWE Evolution. The event will take place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, NY. We will see title defenses from the Raw, SmackDown and NXT Women’s Champions and the finals of the Mae Young Classic Tournament.

The B-Team defeated The Deleters of Worlds to retain the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship.

The segment ended with Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy attacking the champions.

Grade: C

The fued continues between Constable Baron Corbin and Finn Balor in a quick segment. Finn Balor’s get’s his locker room moved into a toy fun house. Finn makes the segment fun.

We cut to an interview with Sasha Banks and Bayley. The two have fully rekindling their friendship and seem to be in a good spot. They also sneak in a nice plug of WWE Evolution.

Sasha Banks & Bayley defeated two local competitors.

Banks and Bayley showcased their teamwork to make quick work of the local wrestlers. The two were extremely impressive and ended up hugging things out in the right after the match.

The Monster in the Bank cut a promo, hyping the potential of winning the WWE Universal Championship. Kevin Owens interrupts and tells Braun Strowman that, “his promblems have only begun.” KO is back with a vengeance and cuts a great promo.

Jinder Mahal then interupts and tries to help Strowman find inner peace. Strowman then kicks Mahel and powerslams Singh.

Grade: A

Mickie James defeated Natalya.

Natalya dominated Mickie James early on in this match with her power. Alexa Bliss managed to distract Natalya, allowing James to capitalize.

Grade: B-

Titus Worldwide tried to talk Akam and Rezar into being better people. Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews attacked the team, sending them reeling up the ramp.

Mojo Rawley defeated Tyler Breeze.

Mojo quickly ran right through Breeze. Bobby Roode was interviewed backstage, unaffected by Mojo’s comments about him in the past.

Finn Balor def. Drew McIntyre by Disqualification.

Balor struggled to keep Drew McIntyre down before landing a tilt-a-whirl DDT. As Balor set up his finisher, Dolph Ziggler tripped him to cause a disqualification.

Seth Rollins ran out to make the save. Kurt Angle comes out and announcs the contest will be restarted as a tag team match.

Finn Balor & Seth Rollins def. Drew McIntrye & Dolph Ziggler.

It was announced later that Rollins would get one last match with Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam.

Grade: A

Ember Moon def. Liv Morgan.

Ember Moon came out aggressive, but Liv Morgan managed to slow her down for a bit. Moon caught Morgan with The Eclipse for the win.

Grade: C-

Roman Reigns def. Bobby Lashley.

The match was action packed and very back and forth, as you would expect. Reigns hit two Superman Punches without taking the win. Lashley caught Reigns with a Spear for a nearfall. Reigns finally hit a third Superman Punch and Spear to defeat Lashley and earn a shot at Brock Lesnar.

Grade: B
