WWE Raw: Live Results from January 7, 2019

The Scrap has WWE Raw results for every match and promo on the first show of 2019.

Advertised for tonight: Brock Lesnar, John Cena returns to Raw, Braun Strowman, Chad Gable & Bobby Roode vs The Revival for the WWE tag team titles, and more.

Raw begins with a brawl between Bobby Lasley and Seth Rollins that ends up making its way to the arena.

John Cena then comes out to a huge pop. Says he needs to step up and he’s going to do it right now. Cena then announces his participation in this year’s Royal Rumble.

Drew McIntryre interupts. Says he’s been waiting for this moment for years and doesn’t care about who Cena is dating or about his hair. But what he cares about is his 16 world championships and that he’s main evented multiple WresleMania, being called the GOAT from Vince McMahon. McIntyre agrees and calls Cena the GOAT. McIntyre wants to take out another one of the greats tonight.

Cena said that he’s heard the same promos all the time. He left so that people could come up with some new ones. Asks how McIntyre is different. McIntyre says they were all talk and he was going to show Cena for himself.

Lio Rush interupts and walks out with Bobby Lashley. Seth Rollins runs out and attacks Lashley. Dean Ambrose comes out. All of the men begin to brawl. Then Finn Balor’s music hits. Balor runs out, fights McIntryre and takes all the men out after jumping over the rope.

John Cena, Finn Balor & Seth Rollins def. Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley & Dean Ambrose via pinfall.

We go backstage to see Seth Rollins in Triple H’s face. Says he wants Ambrose for the belt tonight. Triple H makes it a falls count anywhere match, and welcomes Seth Rollins back.

The camera cuts to Hulk Hogan walking backstage.

Back from commercial, WWE honors Gene Okerlund with a moment of silence and 10 bells.

Hogan comes out with a “Mean Gene-o-Mania-” shirt and tells the WWE Universe he came out in full gear case Mean Gene would have wanted it. He loved entertaining more than anything that he did. Okerlund’s greatest moments video package plays. Hogan ends the segment by telling Gene, “we love you my brother.” Says he’s always in his heart and expresses how much he misses him.

Raw Tag Team Championship Lumberjack Match: Chad Gable & Bobby Roode def. The Revival.

The match ends in controversary yet again, as the referee did not see Dawson’s foot on the rope.

Baron Corbin announces his participation in the Royal Rumble and vows to win.

Baron Corbin def. Elias. 

Promo backstage where Dean Ambrose ultimately says he’s going to burn Seth Rollins down tonight.

Braun Strowman walks out. Live video shows Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Says he knows how much money the WWE has put into promoting Brock would be face-to-face right now with Strowman, but they are smarter than that.

Strowman mocks Lesnar on the mic and says he’s waiting in the ring waiting for him. Tells Lesnar to get in his face, claims he’s scared and threatens him. Lesnar gives his belt to Heyman and says, “let’s see what he has to say.” Lesnar makes his way to the arena and circles around the ring before heading back.

Apollo Crews & Ember Moon def. Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox

A Moment of Bliss featuring Ronda Rousey.

Video package of Rousey’s year before she makes her way out. Bliss asks, “what’s next for you?” Rousey says she wants to look forward, not back. She wants to be a champion the people could be proud of. Rousey calls for a match with the unsung hero of the division, Sasha Banks. Claims she’s better than Becky Lynch and Charlotte.

Nia Jax interupts and says Rousey is forgetting about her. Banks comes out to confront Rousey and says she’s honored to face her for the Raw Women’s Championship. Says, it would be her pleasure to teach her how to lose with dignity and class. Jax gets in Banks face and threatens her for being overlooked. Says Banks should get in line. The Boss responds, “bitch – what line?”

Banks makes her way to the ring and Jax says she would face her, but not right now.

Sasha Banks w/ Bayley def. Nia Jax w/ Tamina via submission. 

It will be Ronda Rousey vs Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble.

Intercontinental Championship Falls Count Anywhere Match: Dean Ambrose def. Seth Rollins.

Bobby Lashley interfered to help Ambrose retain his belt. After the match, Lashley puts Rollins through a table.
