WWE LFG: Episode 9 Recap

Read Time:7 Minute, 4 Second

The world of professional wrestling is about to welcome a new era of talent with WWE’s newest show, WWE LFG, premiering on A&E. This groundbreaking series provides an inside look at what it truly takes to make it in WWE. It also features legendary mentors guiding the next generation of superstars vying for a WWE NXT contract.

Helmed by WWE executives and Hall of Famers Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Shawn Michaels, LFG boasts a stacked coaching lineup. It includes The Undertaker, Booker T, Mickie James, and Bubba Ray Dudley. Each week, these industry veterans will mentor a group of aspiring wrestlers. They will offer invaluable guidance on both in-ring performance and the all-important mic skills. With their wealth of experience, they will shape the future of WWE one match at a time.

Season 1, Episode 9: ‘Tag Team Turmoil’

The ninth episode, Tag Team Turmoil, will aired on April 13, 2025, at 8:00 PM ET on A&E. The episode kicks off with Shawn Michaels introducing the Dudley Boyz, who announce that this week will focus entirely on tag team wrestling. They want to see competitors come together as cohesive units and showcase double-team maneuvers. The teams are set, and it’s revealed that D-Von will be awarding the points this week.

Team Bubba’s Drake Morreaux and Cutler James discuss strategy with their Legend, but they’re soon interrupted by BJ Ray, who has been medically cleared to return. This creates a strange dynamic, as Cutler had originally replaced BJ. Tension rises as the two exchange words, with Cutler cutting off Bubba and dismissing the idea of teaming with BJ. Bubba expresses concern, emphasizing the need for professionalism—sometimes, who you team with won’t be your decision. In the end, he decides the two will team up.

After the matches, Shawn Michaels addresses the Future Greats, making it clear that killing the crowd is unacceptable. He believes too many people are starting to feel comfortable. D-Von then steps in to award the weekly points. For the women, he gives the nod to Team Bubba’s Zena Sterling and Tatyanna Dumas. For the men, the points go to Team Undertaker’s Elijah Holyfield and Shiloh Hill.

The updated point breakdown is as follows:

  • Team Booker: 5 Points
  • Team Mickie: 3 Points
  • Team Undertaker: 6 Points
  • Team Bubba Ray: 2 Points

The Matches on Episode 9

Drake Morreaux & Cutler James vs. Troy Yearwood & Chris Island

Cutler James and Troy Yearwood start the match, but BJ Ray quickly tags himself in—something the Legends note was never discussed. Bubba immediately senses something is off. Meanwhile, Troy and Chris are working well together, tagging in and out seamlessly. Cutler grows visibly frustrated in the corner, repeatedly asking to be tagged in. BJ ignores him, instead showboating and soaking up the spotlight whenever he can.

Eventually, Cutler has had enough—he storms into the ring, shoves BJ to the mat, and walks out. As he’s making his way to the back, BJ catches Chris off guard and rolls him up for a surprise win. Troy and Chris are left confused. Cutler walks straight past the Legends without saying a word.

Backstage, the drama intensifies. BJ walks into the back only to find Bubba waiting—furious and ready to explode. Bubba tells him to walk straight to the back door and go outside. He asks Mickie to follow, and together they lay into BJ. BJ tries to justify his actions, saying the crowd’s reaction made him go into business for himself. Bubba ends it by saying he doesn’t give a damn what happens to BJ from here on out.

Sirena Linton & Dani Sekelsky vs. Penina Tuilaepa & Leigh Laurel

Dani Sekelsky, now cleared to compete again, kicks off the match against Leigh Laurel. She gains the upper hand early and tags in Sirena Linton, who comes in on fire—showcasing even more of her move-set in just her third-ever match. After a strong showing, Sirena tags Dani back in, who looks sharp and polished in the ring. She even pays homage to Trish Stratus while taking out both Penina and Leigh.

Leigh eventually shifts the momentum and manages to tag in Penina. The two begin to dominate, displaying great teamwork as they tag in and out seamlessly. However, as the match progresses, things start to get a bit sloppy. In the end, Leigh catches Sirena mid-run and pins her for the win. The Legends weren’t impressed. They felt the match fell apart toward the end, and Mickie specifically pointed to Penina and Leigh as the cause of the chaos.

Shiloh Hill & Elijah Holyfield vs. Jasper Troy & Anthony Luke

Jasper Troy and Elijah Holyfield kick off the match. Elijah lands a few solid punches early, but Jasper quickly shuts him down—grabbing him by the throat, dragging him to the corner, and tagging in Anthony Luke. Eventually, Elijah fights back and manages to tag in Shiloh Hill. Together, they double-team Luke, gaining some momentum.

But that doesn’t last long. Luke gets the tag, and Jasper returns to the ring. The two big men begin tagging in and out seamlessly, executing what ends up being the best double-team maneuver of the night. Their chemistry is on full display—even taking advantage of the referee’s distractions to land some underhanded attacks. Classic heel tactics.

Shiloh takes the brunt of the punishment, as Jasper and Luke keep the tags flowing and the pressure on. At one point, Elijah gets knocked off the apron, leaving Shiloh with no one to tag. The crowd builds with anticipation for the hot tag—and when it finally comes, Elijah explodes into the ring with speed and intensity. In a key moment, Jasper accidentally hits Luke, and Elijah and Shiloh capitalize—hitting a tag team finisher for the win. The Legends loved the match, praising all four competitors for putting on the best one of the season so far.

Zena Sterling & Tatyanna Dumas vs. Bayley Humphrey & Tyra Mae Steele

Tensions were high heading into the match between Tatyanna Dumas and Tyra Mae Steele, who started things off for their respective teams. Tatyanna quickly took control, out-wrestling TMS before tagging in Zena Sterling. Zena kept the momentum rolling, continuing to stand out with her unique and dynamic move-set. She then tags Tatyanna back in, but the tide turned when TMS seized an opening and began punishing Tatyanna.

Tyra then tags in Bayley Humphrey, who used her power to wear Tatyanna down further. After another quick tag, Tyra re-entered and maintained control, setting the stage for the inevitable hot tag. Zena, fired up on the apron, stomped on the steel steps, rallying the crowd with a slow clap. When she finally got the tag, she exploded into the ring—laying out TMS with authority and even knocking Bayley off the apron.

Chaos erupted, with all four women briefly involved, until it came down to Bayley and Zena in the ring. Bayley then delivered her new jaw-dropping finisher to secure the win. After the match, tensions flared again. A furious Tatyanna claimed that Tyra didn’t know her spots—and accused her of causing an injury.
