Read Time:2 Minute, 15 Second

WrestleMania 41 weekend has officially wrapped up, and while there’s plenty to discuss about the main event itself, let’s shift the spotlight to the independent scene and the festivities surrounding the big show. This year’s WrestleMania weekend felt different from years past, largely due to WWE’s direct involvement through the WWE ID program for independent talent, as well as the surprising appearances of a few WWE-contracted wrestlers on indie shows.

Among the many standout performers this weekend, three names rose above the rest: Starboy Charlie, Michael Oku, and Jack Cartwheel. These three were strong contenders for MVP of the weekend—but one, in particular, truly stole the show.

Michael Oku

Let’s start with Michael Oku. Out of the previously mentioned wrestlers, Oku is arguably the best in-ring worker and certainly the most experienced. He competed in four matches over WrestleMania weekend before heading back to England to defend the RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship against Leon Slater—a must-watch bout. Other standout matches from Oku this weekend that are highly recommended include:

  • vs. Luke Jacobs
  • vs. El Phantasmo
  • w/ Flip Gordon & Hechicero vs. TMDK

Starboy Charlie

Starboy Charlie is one of the hottest young prospects in wrestling today, and it’s only a matter of time before one of the major promotions signs him to a contract. He had a packed WrestleMania weekend, competing in five matches—each offering something different. The must-watch matches from his weekend include:

  • Clusterfuck Battle Royal
  • vs. Yuni
  • w/ Titus Alexander vs. 1 Called Manders & Thomas Shire
  • w/ Titus Alexander vs. Arez & Gringo Loco

Jack Cartwheel

One of the busiest wrestlers during WrestleMania weekend was Jack Cartwheel, who was booked in over seven matches across various shows. Much like Starboy Charlie, Cartwheel brought his unique flair to a wide variety of fun, high-energy bouts. This weekend was a clear showcase of the growth he’s made as a performer in recent months. Standout matches from his weekend include:

  • w/ Arez & Gringo Loco . The Wagner Family
  • w/ Capuccino Jones & Sean Legacy vs. Jackson Drake with Swipe Right
  • w/ Gringo Loco vs. Juventud Guerra & Super Crazy
  • vs. Sean Legacy

Overall, the MVP of WrestleMania 41 weekend was none other than Starboy Charlie. His impressive growth and the variety of matches he delivered were key reasons he stood out among the rest. Just looking at the lineup he was booked for, it’s clear he was having fun—and that energy radiated to the live crowds. Starboy Charlie is a name fans need to keep an eye on, because the potential is undeniable. What we’re witnessing now is only the beginning.
