Who’s next for Edmen Shahbazyan after another impressive performance at UFC 244?
At UFC 244, MMA fans saw the graduation of Edmen Shahbazyan from rising prospect to legitimate challenger.
At the young age of 21 years old, Edmen has shown the world why he deserves the top-10 of his division. So here are some of the best next options for “The Golden Boy”.
Derek Brunson
A veteran of the game, Brunson has fought the who’s who of the 185-pound division. He has also proven over time that he’s one of the top-10 fighters at middleweight. This is why I believe he’s a perfect test for Edmen.
Brunson is a guy who has truly seen it all and is only getting better.
Jack Hermansson
With an impressive 20-4 Record “TheJoker” was on the rise at 185 and made a name for himself in his 5 round victory against Jacare Souza which catapulted him into a main event match up that did not go his way but with his status at one of the top 5 at middleweight his grappling and pace will be a perfect test for the young well rounded Shahbazyan.
Kelvin Gastelum
Gastelum is without a doubt one of the best fighters at 185, but now being on a 2-fight losing streak, a match up against the “hype train” is his best option. Kelvin will get the chance to prove he still belongs in the upper echelon of the division, but if Edmen gets the job done, then we know how good this kid really is.
Jared Cannonier
While on a 3-fight win streak and looking very promising at 185 pounds, “The Killa Gorilla” could be staring down the champion, Israel Adensanya, very soon. However, some believe he has more to prove and may need more recognition.
With that, let’s bring in the young buck and find out who is ready for the spotlight.
Darren Till
Till joined the middleweight division after quickly rising to the top at 170, but being viciously halted by former champion Tyron Woodley and the “Baddest Mother Fucker” Jorge Masvidal.
He realized he needed a change of scenery, which prompted the jump to 185 pounds and with that, he found a split decision victory against top middleweight Kelvin Gastelum. But Till is still brand new to middleweight, while Edmen is picking through his opposition with flying colors, proving he deserves the top fights.
With that notion, Darren vs. Edmen is a matchup that makes sense for both fighters.
