Who will Jay White end up signing with?
On February 11th, we saw Jay White defeated in the Loser Leaves Japan Match against Hikuleo. The following day, Jay White became the hottest free agent in pro wrestling… Taking everything into account, there are only two paths for the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion’s future that makes sense.
World Wrestling Entertainment
Most news sites are reporting that Jay White’s will likely end yup in WWE, making yet another Bullet Club leader to sign with WWE. Kenny Omega remaining as the only exception. It’s no secret that WWE and Paul Levesque are huge fans of White, and have approached him on several occasions about signing with WWE. All directions point to this finally happening.
Jay is a much-needed addition to WWE’s main event scene, which has been somewhat stale the last few years. White is good with promos, and that’ll help him tremendously if he decides to sign with WWE. In terms of in-ring work, there aren’t many wrestlers he’ll be able to do the NJPW main event style with, and he’ll have to adapt to the WWE in-house style we are used to by now.
Many fans are worried about WWE wasting White’s talents, like we’ve seen on several occasions with WWE when they sign NJPW main eventers. But they also have the advantage of being able to offer more money than any other promotion at the moment.
All Elite Wrestling
Another option for Jay White is AEW, but as of this writing, AEW are not the favorites to sign him. It’s worth remembering that back in 2018 when AEW was forming, The Elite approached White about signing with the promotion. But his answer was obviously a no back then, and we don’t know if he has interest in working there now…
White has made several appearances on AEW TV, and the AEW fans love him. If he decided to join AEW, he won’t be in a strange environment where a fanbase doesn’t now who he is, and his career in NJPW. He would fit like a hand to a glove if he became All Elite.
While all sounds perfect; AEW can’t offer the money WWE does, and that’ll probably be an important factor regarding his future. All things indicate he is signing with WWE, so for now, all we can do is wait and see how this Jay White saga turns out.
