Who should win the new AEW TNT Championship?
In AEW’s latest episode of their YouTube series “Road To” they announced a new championship title that will serve as the secondary belt of the promotion. The first champion will be determined in an 8-man tournament. The first half of the bracket will be revealed in this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
There are several wrestlers that people can make cases to be the first-ever TNT Champion.
Brodie Lee
The leader of The Dark Order could be an interesting pick for the first-ever TNT champion. He’s good on the mic and is a very good worker. Giving Brodie Lee this opportunity could be good for his AEW career.
The only problem for him is that the first TNT Champion needs to be a top name to give the title relevance.
Lance Archer
After an incredible 2019 with NJPW, Lance Archer decided to join AEW. Lance Archer as a dominant monster champion could be a great idea and you can tell good stories with wrestlers like Darby Allin chasing for the gold.
The only thing against his case could be in a similar fashion to that of Lee.
Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho as AEW Champion was some of the most entertaining TV to watch. Jericho did a great job elevating the belt and most importantly young talent. Giving the strap to Jericho would not be a bad idea at all.
Jericho recently lost the AEW Championship so it could be said that it’s too early to give him another championship.
MJF
MJF has been doing a lot of great work since he signed with AEW. Giving him the secondary belt of the company is a challenge that he’s ready to take.
The only thing that could be said against his case is the fact that he is too young and you need a top guy to win the belt.
Cody
After his feud with Jericho ended, Cody made the promise of him never challenging for the AEW Championship again and so far he has kept his promise. Putting the belt on Cody would be a good start for the championship.
The only problem for his case is the fact Jon Moxley is the current AEW Champion and you need a heel to carry the secondary belt if the current world champion is a babyface so you have contrast.
