What should WWE do with Aleister Black and Ricochet on the main roster?

Read Time:3 Minute, 7 Second

NXT TakeOver and WrestleMania 35 could have been spring boards for two of the most recent call-ups from NXT, Ricochet and Aleister Black. Although both are known for being singles competitors in NXT, they have been a tag team since joining the main roster.

After disappointing losses over WrestleMania weekend, what’s next for these guys?

Well let’s look at them as tag team first. My first assumption was they have a feud with the Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. The Usos are a well decorated team that could match speed and style with Ricochet and Black. Winning the belts off the Usos will solidify them as a legit tag team and would set them up for future feuds with The Bar, sAnity or Rusev/Nakamura. This past Thursday, the Usos dropped the tag belts to the Hardy Boyz and I don’t see WWE having two babyface teams vying for the tag belts.

With that being said and the Superstar Shake-up coming next week, I think Ricochet and Black will be unleashed on the WWE Universe as single competitors, one on Raw and one on SmackDown. I think Ricochet will end up on Raw and Black on SmackDown.  With SmackDown moving to FOX, WWE will want to load up their star power on SmackDown without leaving the cupboard bare on Raw (although I think there will be some stars going between both shows).

I like Ricochet on Raw. As it is currently constructed, if you look at some feuds that would be good for him and exciting to the fans.  With Sami Zayn back in the fold, I wouldn’t mind seeing him and Ricochet go at it every Monday night. Zayn is a top-notch performer and has been in some classic feuds in the past. Another matchup that would be fan-friendly, Ricochet chasing the Intercontinental Championship versus Finn Balor. Both have aerial styles that fans love, and fast paced matches are good to watch on TV also. Lastly, an underrated feud that no one would see coming would be Ricochet matched up against the returning Bray Wyatt. Although we don’t know what his new gimmick might be, Bray can hold his own in the ring and his power wrestling skill set that would be contradictory to Ricochet’s high flying act.

Aleister Black on SmackDown would be money. There are so many feuds you can have him in, lets start with Nakamura. Nakamura is known for his varying strikes and kicks which Black could match as he is a brilliant striker in his own right. This would also put Nakamura back on the map as a singles competitor. Kevin Owens would be worth the price of admission. Owens has a ruthless aggression about him that would make Black have to dig deep and use all facets of his game to secure wins. But the feud I want to see would be Samoa Joe versus Aleister Black. Samoa Joe is a wrecking ball with superior ring skills but more importantly his mic work is impeccable. Aleister Black had some good promos in NXT, but we haven’t heard much from him on the mic since coming up to the main roster. I think Joe would bring out the absolute best in Aleister.

Here are a few ideas that could maximize Ricochet and Aleister Black’s roles on Raw or SmackDown. You must put these new guys in meaningful feuds that give the fans something to look forward to every week. Ricochet and Black could very well be the stars WWE could build their future success on.
