What is the future of ROH under Tony Khan?
One interesting topic with a lot of mystery in the world of pro wrestling is the future of ROH. Since Tony Khan purchased the promotion, ROH and its championships have been featured on AEW programming. But ROH needs more…
The promotion can’t be just a side job for AEW. ROH needs to be their own brand, but with access to the many interesting wrestlers signed to AEW.
The plan for ROH would be to get their own TV contract and go from there. Getting a TV contract is not easy on the ever-changing TV landscape. ROH having its own TV contract would allow for them to start more programs and feel secondary to AEW. Things like TV contracts take time, but there hasn’t been any news regarding this in a very long time.
One alternative for ROH is to start their own YouTube show, or start streaming on their platform, Honor Club. Adding new content to their already impressive library would be the right move and would catch the eyes of TV executives. ROH having their show on a platform like HBO MAX could be amazing for the promotion as well.
The massive AEW roster has helped ROH during these times. But sooner rather than later, the promotion will need its own roster. Guys like Bandido are still available, but that won’t be the case for long. It’s true that the indie scene always has interesting talent coming up, but it’s time for ROH to get their own talent.
There are many questions about the future of ROH and Tony Khan will have to find answers to all these questions. Only time will tell how it all plays out…
