Wednesday Night Wars: WWE NXT Week 15 Review

Read Time:2 Minute, 37 Second

Before I start with my review this week, I want to talk briefly about a very serious issue. Australia has been ravaged by Wildfires over the past couple of weeks. If you wish to help in any way, please visit redcross.gov.au.

Lots of things to talk about, so let’s get into it!

NXT Women’s Division

To start off the show, new NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley came out to cut a promo. She was quickly joined by Toni Storm, Kay Lee Ray, Io Shirai, Bianca Belair, and Candice LeRae. This made me stop and just appreciate the depth of the NXT Women’s Division. I think their Women’s Division is the best in the world. This led to a decent six-women tag, which was won by Rhea, Candice, and Toni. I also want to mention that later in the night, we got the debut of Chelsea Green! She attacked Mia Yim and Kayden Carter. So excited to see what she does, been a fan for many years!

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

This was also the first week of the Annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and I love this tournament. The mystery partner of KUSHIDA was revealed, it will be Alex Shelley! For those that do not know the two used to team in Japan as the Time Splitters.

This week, Imperium and Undisputed Era won their respective matches. I will do an update every week on who wins their tournament matches! Undisputed Era vs Gallus was fantastic and I recommend everybody check it out. NXT UK has so much underrated talent and this was a display of that. I think this is one of the best tournaments of the year, and always tends to lead to storylines later on. Roderick Strong joining Undisputed Era, Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor, both happened as a result of this tournament. Excited to see what it leads to this year!

Bask in his Glory!

The main event this week saw Keith Lee, Damien Priest, Dominak Dijakovic, and Cameron Grimes competing in a fatal 4-way. The four men were fighting for a shot at the North American Championship, presumably at the next Takeover. Fantastic match here, I don’t know what it is about NXT but they do multi-man matches fantastically. The star of this match far and away was Keith Lee. Somewhat not surprisingly, Keith Lee won the match and will get a shot at Roderick Strong’s North American Championship. I think of the four people in this match, Lee was the obvious choice. Although I must say, Damien Priest just gets better and better. I’m not sure if Lee will win the Championship, but it is about time he gets a shot!

Overall

There was so much good with this show, and I wish I could talk about it all. NXT had slipped for a couple of weeks in terms of quality, but this show they were back up to their standard. If you did not watch this week’s NXT I urge you to seek it out.

Just a fantastic episode of Wrestling from the best promotion in the world!
