Wednesday Night Wars: AEW Dynamite Week 7 Review

Read Time:2 Minute, 33 Second

The 7th week of AEW Dynamite was celebrated in Nashville, Tennessee. The crowd was hot from start to finish and it seemed they enjoyed everything the promotion had to offer.

Promo-Heavy Show

This show in comparison to other episodes of Dynamite was promo heavy with video packages. In this episode of Dynamite, we saw promos from Moxley, Avalon and the promo of the night came from MJF and Chris Jericho. The promo segment from MJF and Jericho was fun and had great heat, the chemistry between both men was amazing. At the end, we saw the debut of Wardlow as MJF’s bodyguard.

The show started with a great highlight video of the PPV Full Gear and a video package of Kenny Omega not being cleared by the AEW doctor. Omega’s video package was good, and we saw his reaction after receiving the news he was not cleared to compete, while Moxley was cleared.

Match of the Night

Despite being more focused on the promo aspect of things, we still saw some fun matches like the main event between SCU vs. Jericho & Guevara for the AEW Tag Team Championship, and with a surprised pin from Scorpio Sky to the current AEW Champion Chris Jericho to retain the titles.

Jurassic Express vs. The Dark Order was a good match and both teams had incredible tag team moves.

The match of the night was between Page and PAC to settle the feud between both men. In a hard-hitting match, PAC was able to defeat Page with the brutalizer and get a step closer to challenge for the AEW Championship.

What’s Next?

This episode of Dynamite set a lot of interesting things for the future like:

  • Darby accepting Moxley’s challenge.
  • Scorpio Sky pinning Jericho, this could mean the beginning of a singles push for him.
  • The ongoing feud between The Bucks and Proud and Powerful.
  • MJF and his new bodyguard Wardlow.
  • Kong’s on-going attacks on the women’s division.
  • The return of Luchasaurus and saving Jungle Boy + Marko from The Dark Order.

Grade

Another solid episode of AEW Dynamite, the show is very consistent on the great product the promotion has done for 7 weeks. Despite all the good stuff, we still don’t have a clear direction with the women’s division, the only thing we saw about the women’s division was a squash match with Nyla Rose and the Awesome Kong attack to Allie.

The crowd was hot for almost everything AEW presented, especially for Darby Allin and the surprise return of Luchasaurus.

Of all episodes of AEW Dynamite this was the least heavy on in-ring work, but the promos were good and kept showing the advantages of non-scripted promos. MJF had a contender for promo of the year with Jericho.

Overall: B+
