VIDEO: Orion Cosce says he would finish Cerrone or Price if UFC needs him
Orion Cosce (7-0) is coming off a third-round ground and pound victory over previously undefeated top prospect Matt Dixon on Week 3 of Dana White’s Contender Series.
We caught up with one half of the new Bash Brothers team to get his thoughts on his most recent victory and what the future holds. Orion discussed what his adjustments were after a tough first round against Dixon that didn’t go his way. “I went over to my corner and right before they even said anything I said he’s not taking me down again. I was pissed, I was the wrestler going in to this fight and going in to the second round it was more so hit him with heavy shots, stuff the takedown, make him work, and tire him out”.
After a very impressive second round, Cosce was very confident heading into the third and felt he broke his opponent. “I told my corner that I’m gonna finish him here, he’s done, I broke his will and I’m gonna go get this finish now”. Cosce went on to do just that and later on that evening got his coveted UFC contract.
Both Orion and his brother Louis got contracts on the night after two very impressive victories over extremely tough opponents. Orion talked about his feelings on whether he deserved a contract and it was quite clear that his confidence never waivered. “That’s why I started screaming man, all those emotions coming out that was both for that I was able to get the finish, and the way I was able to finish the fight. Especially that third round how dominant I was being able to use the adjustment from the first round into the second round, and finish it in the third, I just knew I earned a contract”.
The older Cosce brother talked about when he would like fight next and explained he wants to be active throughout the duration of 2020. “I wasn’t able to get back into training like I wanted to this week. On Monday I’ll be right back to it doing my double days again. I want to be able to fight again on September 19th. My weight is down, I’m like 193 right now and I would be able to make that cut”. Orion went on to discuss a more realistic timeframe so both him and his brother Louis could make their official UFC debuts on the same card. “I think right now as far as us brothers making our official debut, it will have to be at the end of October or early November. I want to fight two or three more times before the end of the year”.
Keep your eyes peeled for when both Orion and Louis put pen to paper for their official UFC debuts as both men are can’t miss television.
