VIDEO: Andre Ewell expecting ‘bloody war’ against Irwin Rivera
Andre Ewell looks to make it two-straight victories when he battles Irwin Rivera at UFC Fight Night on September 19 and couldn’t hold back his excitement for the matchup.
“It’s basically, perfectly fitting,” Ewell told The Scrap.” (Rivera) falls right into my style just like I fall perfectly right in his style. And I know he ends up having this little explosiveness that could easily be a takedown or explosively dropping somebody. The dude keeps it exciting no matter what. And then just the fact is that he has that Mexican art of his that’s gonna keep pushing them forward. It comes down that it’s gonna end up being a very interesting fight.”
Ewell (16-6) is coming off a controversial decision victory over Jonathan Martinez at UFC 247 in February. The 32-year-old has alternated between wins and losses in his last four fights.
Rivera (10-5) picked up his first UFC victory last month with a split decision win over Ali AlQuasi. The Sanford MMA product has won four of his last five fights, with three of those victories coming by stoppage.
Ewell knows what he’s in store for on September 19 and believes fans will see a potential “Fight of the Night” performance from these two bantamweights.
“Finish or a bloody war, It’s gonna be one of those things,” Ewell said. “Like I said, he’s coming forward, I’m coming forward. Granted like I feel like this is like one of those fights that that’s going to be basically robbed from the fans. Because that’s one of those like fans would love it (live) to be there to see this type of fight. But they can obviously watch it, but they’re not gonna be excited or excited to be like (Paul) Felder or (Michael Bisping) or what not you know?”
