Top of the Class: Yazmin Jauregui is an absolute beast at strawweight

Read Time:2 Minute, 6 Second

Yazmin Jauregui has undoubtedly separated herself from her peers on the regional scene. She’s a unique prospect, with massive star potential. If she isn’t finishing her opponents, she’s pushing the pace every round and getting the win unanimously.

Jauregui is the #1 ranked female fighter in Tapology’s pound-for-pound rankings. Not only is she a badass fighter, she’s a mother to a little boy who is her biggest motivation for fighting. Yazmin has trained with great company, often seen alongside former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno. Since debuting in MMA, she has been mainly building her stock under the Combate Global promotion.

Not only is Yazmin a future UFC champion in the making, she is an absolute beast and is going to be a problem in any strawweight division she enters.

Why was Yazmin Jauregui selected for our Top of the Class List?

Jauregui is truly at the Top of the Class at strawweight. If we’re being honest, she has been ready for a step up in competition for quite some time now… At this point, if she doesn’t get a Combate title shot, she should be in a major MMA promotion before the end of 2022.

Yazmin has a solid well-rounded skillset, even though she is only 22 years old. She’s currently undefeated at 8-0, and is riding an 8-fight win streak. Jauregui has fought experienced fighters, and has still shown the ability to finish fights.

All of Yazmin’s finishes thus far have come by way of KO/TKO. Her striking is aggressive and swarming, and she pushes the pace to make her opponent constantly uncomfortable. It been quite clear that Yazmin has been overwhelming for opposition, which have a combined record of 35-19. So know she isn’t fighting cans to pad her record… She’s as legit as they come.

Yazmin’s most recent accomplishment was winning Combate Global’s Last Latina Standing tournament. She fought three times that night, and finished two of the fights by KO/TKO in the first round. That night was a statement, and a big one… She proved that she was ready for the call.

Make sure you keep an eye on Yazmin, because once she’s under the mainstream lights, she’s going to be a massive star. Mexico has a real prospect in the strawweight division, and her career is really just getting started.

Congratulations to Yazmin Jauregui on being selected for our inaugural Top of the Class List!
