Top of the Class 2022: Jaqueline Amorim has greatness written all over her

Read Time:2 Minute, 37 Second

Since a young girl, Jaqueline Amorim has been destined for greatness. She immediately began her fight career obsessively studying the grappling arts. After growing up in the sport, Amorim added IBJJF, UAEJJF and CBJJ championships to her list of accolades by the age of 22.

Fast forward to today, Amorim has become the first Brazilian woman to hold the LFA strawweight title, cementing herself as one of the best strawweights on the regional scene. Though it was unexpected, she has been on a fast track due to the pandemic halting jiu-jitsu events in 2020. Now that her career timeline has expedited, she looks to continue her dominant streak until the big leagues come calling.

Amorim will make the first defense of her strawweight title at LFA 142 on September 16th. With a win, she’ll extend her unblemished record to 6-0 and inch one step closer to becoming the next LFA champion in the UFC. Make sure you watch closely though, because it could potentially be her last time fighting on the regional circuit.

Jacqueline has been breaking necks, limbs, and barriers since her transition to MMA. But know that she is just getting started, and has a lot more to show…

Why was Jaqueline Amorim selected for our Top of the Class?

Since moving to the United States in 2013, Amorim has since found a home at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida. Due to her ground game being a massive threat, she’s been focusing on improving her striking. It has definitely been coming together nicely, but once it’s truly mastered, it’s game over for the strawweights…

Amorim currently boasts a 100% finish rate, and is on a five-fight win streak. Her last time out, she claimed the LFA title with a first-round kneebar against Loveth Young. Prior to that, it only took her 10 seconds to knockout Megan Owen at LFA 114. If you look at her record, it’s full of first-round finishes… So even though women duck her to avoid the ground game, they’ll soon have no choice but to sign on the dotted line.

Jacqueline may be early in her career, but nevertheless, she has proven to be a dangerous opponent. She’s a BJJ blackbelt, and a problem for any 115er. With a win at LFA 142, she’ll become the first woman to successfully defend the title… An impressive feat to say the least, especially for a fighter that is only 5-0.

Amorim currently has a large social media following, and fights under the number one feeder of talent for the UFC. Not only is she your go-to Woman Crush Wednesday, she’s just a few fights away from no longer fighting regionally.

Make sure you tune into UFC Fight Pass on Friday, September 16th to catch LFA 142 live from the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. Jacqueline will look to prove that she’s big-league ready with a win in her second LFA main event.

Congratulations to Jacqueline Amorim on being selected for our 2022 Top of the Class List!
