Tony Ferguson fires back at Conor McGregor following vicious KO loss
Tony Ferguson has fired back at Conor McGregor after the Irishman took to Twitter to ridicule the former interim champion following his loss to Michael Chandler at UFC 274.
The world of mixed martial arts was left stunned when newcomer Michael Chandler knocked Tony Ferguson out cold. The knockout marked Ferguson’s first time being stopped in that manner in 32-fights, dating back to his professional debut in 2008.
After scoring a knockdown of his own in round one, Ferguson showed glimpses of his old self. He was being the aggressor and giving Chandler real problems. However, the second round saw ‘El Cucuy’ left faceplanting the canvas after Chandler landed a vicious front kick.
Michael Chandler Stops Tony Ferguson
Ferguson was released from the hospital after undergoing numerous scans, and thankfully there was nothing flagged that should be of concern.
Although Ferguson has never met McGregor inside the Octagon, both men have been very vocal in the past in expressing their dislike for one another. After the fight, McGregor threw shots at Ferguson, who has since responded:
“Tony had some great nuggets in the media build up. Then he got punt kicked to the chin and got turned into a nugget himself. That’s crazy.”
“@TheNotoriousMMA Ahhh There’s my bitch. Next time tag me pussy. Comin’ after you and ur crew. McNugget stays with you fake, can’t take what not your ya anymore theif. Still got no sauce & no balls McNuggets. I’ll see you & your crew soon comin after your gold leprechaun-Champ akaEl Savvy-CSO-“
At 38, it’s up in the air what’s next for Ferguson. One thing is for certain, he needs time to heal. Fans worldwide are calling for the lightweight legend to hang up the gloves after failing to win in his last four.
With McGregor side-lined and expected to be back next year, could we see him return to a fight with Ferguson after years of trash talk?
What would you like to see Ferguson do next?
