Read Time:3 Minute, 35 Second

On Saturday, August 3rd, UFC will be making its way to Newark, New Jersey for UFC on ESPN 5: Covington vs Lawler.

Here are the underrated fights to watch for the fight card:

Mara Romero Borella vs Lauren Murphy

In this UFC flyweight bout, Mara ‘Maravilla’ Romero Borella takes on Lauren ‘Lucky’ Murphy.

Borella holds a professional record of 12-5, including 3 knockouts, 4 submissions and 5 decisions. She holds a UFC record of 2-1. She recently made her UFC debut in 2017, where she defeated Kalindra Faria by first-round submission. Since then, she fought flyweight contender Katlyn Chookagian, having lost by unanimous decision. In her most recent bout, she defeated Taila Santos by split decision at UFC Fight Night 144 in February.

Her opponent, flyweight contender Lauren Murphy, holds a professional record of 10-4. Her 10 wins include 7 knockouts and 3 decisions. She began her pro career with a flawless 8-0 record and holds a UFC record of 2-4. In her defense, she has fought some of the best fighters in his division. She has fought Liz Carmouche, Katlyn Chookagian and most recently, Sijara Eubanks.

With Borella still fairly early in her UFC run, I’m sure that she wants to prove herself. Murphy has been a bit up and down lately and I can imagine she will be looking for a big win here.

Let’s see what the flyweights can do when they lock inside the Octagon this Saturday!

Matt Schnell vs Jordan Espinosa

In this UFC Flyweight bout, Matt ‘Danger’ Schnell will be taking on Jordan Espinosa.

Schnell holds a professional record of 13-4, including 7 submissions and 3 decisions. He holds a UFC record of 3-2. He made his UFC debut back in 2016, where he lost to UFC bantamweight contender, Rob Font. Since then, he has gone 3-1 in the UFC, including 2 decision wins and a first-round triangle choke victory over UFC vet Louis Smolka.

His opponent, Jordan Espinosa, holds a professional record of 14-5, including 7 submissions and 5 decisions. He holds a UFC record of 1-0 and a third-round TKO victory over Riley Dutro, which was on DWCS. In his most recent fight, he made his UFC debut against Eric Shelton on the Thompson vs Pettis undercard, where he picked up a unanimous decision victory.

Let’s see what these two bring to the table when they square off on Saturday in Newark!

Antonina Shevchenko vs Lucie Pudilova

In this UFC flyweight bout, Antonina ‘Pantera’ Shevchenko will be going to war with Lucie ‘Bullet’ Pudilova.

Shevchenko holds a professional record of 7-1, including 5 decisions and 2 knockouts. She holds a UFC record of 1-1. She also has another win from DWCS, where she picked up a second-round TKO win over Jaimelene Nievera. She made her UFC debut against Ji Yeon Kim at the TUF 28 Finale, where she won by unanimous decision. In her most recent bout, she fought Flyweight contender Roxanne Modafferi, where she lost by split decision.

Her opponent, Lucie Pudilova, holds a professional record of 8-4, which includes 2 knockouts, 2 submissions and 4 decisions. She has never been finished in her pro career. She has 4 losses and all of which have came by way of decision. She holds a UFC record of 2-3, falling short in her UFC debut, when she lost to Lina Lansberg by decision. Since then, she has gone 2-2, including wins over Ji Yeon Kim and Sarah Moras. She is 0-2 in her last two fights against top contenders within the division.

With Shevchenko and Pudilova both coming off losses in their last fight, expect them both to come out swinging in this one. This is one you don’t want to miss!

Catch all of the action LIVE from Newark on Saturday night, only on the ESPN network.
