The underrated fights to watch at UFC 239 in Las Vegas, Nevada

On Saturday, July 6, UFC is making its way back to Vegas for International Fight Week, UFC 239, headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between P4P king Jon ‘Bones’ Jones and Thiago ‘Marreta’ Santos.

Here are the underrated fights to watch during International Fight Week:

Julia Avila vs Pannie Kianzad

In the opening fight of the night, on UFC Fight Pass Prelims, women bantamweights clash as Julia ‘Raging Panda’ Avila takes on TUF 28 Finalist Pannie Kianzad. Avila was originally scheduled to fight Melisso Gatto, but Gatto withdrew from the fight for unknown reasons.

California-native, Julia ‘Raging Panda’ Avila, is a natural bantamweight with a professional record of 5-1. Her 5-1 record includes 2 wins by KO, 1 by submission and 2 decisions. In her most recent fight, she fought on the Invicta FC 32 undercard, where she defeated Alexa Conners by second-round TKO. Avila holds wins over some of the top contenders in the UFC right now, names like Marion Reneau and former flyweight champion Nicco Montano.

Her opponent, TUF 28 Finalist and Sweden-native Pannie ‘Banzai’ Kianzad, made it to the final round of TUF 28, where she lost to surging prospect Macy Chiasson via submission. Kianzad was actually released from the UFC promotion following the loss but was recently brought back after an impressive victory over at Superior Challenge 19, a Swedish fight promotion. She holds a professional record of 11-4, with 3 wins by KO and 8 by decision. In her most recent fight, she defeated Iony Razafiarison by unanimous decision. Kianzad holds wins over names such as Jessica-Rose Clark and Lina Lansberg.

With both of these women set to make their official UFC debut in this fight, you can expect them to bring their A-game. Don’t miss this one!

Ismail Naurdiev vs Chance Rencountre

UFC welterweights take the Octagon as Ismail Naurdiev battles Chance Rencountre.

Ismail ‘The Austrian Wonderboy’ Naurdiev holds a professional record of 18-2, including 11 wins by KO, 5 by submission and 2 by decision. He is currently riding a 3-fight win streak, which includes two wins by stoppage. In his most recent fight, he made his UFC debut when he defeated Michel Prazeres by unanimous decision. Naurdiev is 14-1 in his last 15 fights.

His opponent, Chance ‘Black Eagle’ Rencountre holds a professional record of 13-3, which includes 6 wins by KO, 3 by submission, and 4 by decision. He holds a UFC record of 1-1. In his debut, he dropped a decision to welterweight standout Belal Muhammed. After that, he fought Kyle Stewart and won by first-round submission. He is 6-2 in his last 8 fights.

Both of these guys are proven killers in the cage so this is sure to be a good one- you definitely want to be tuning in.

Alejandro Perez vs Yadong Song

The #1 underrated fight to watch features a men’s bantamweight clash between two of the UFC’s most respected teams, Team Alpha Male and American Kickboxing Academy.

Alejandro ‘Turbo’ Perez will be taking on Yadong ‘Kung Fu Monkey’ Song.

American Kickboxing Academy’s Alejandro Perez holds a professional record of 21-7-1, including 9 wins by KO, 5 by submission, and 7 by decision. He was on a 4-fight win streak before having it snapped in a fight with Cody Stamann, where he lost by unanimous decision. He holds wins over many names, such as Scott Jorgensen, Andre Soukhamthath, Iuri Alcantara, Matthew Lopez and Eddie Wineland. He is 6-1-1 in his last 8 fights and currently 7-1-2 in the UFC.

His opponent, Team Alpha Male’s Yadong ‘Kung Fu Monkey’ Song, holds a professional record of 13-3, including 4 wins by KO, 3 by submission, and 6 by decision. Song actually fights at featherweight but he will be dropping down to bantamweight to challenge Perez. He is currently on a 6-fight win streak, including 4 finishes, 2 by submission, and 2 by KO. He is 7-1 in his last 8 fights and currently 3-0 in the UFC.

Both of these guys are proven warriors who have trained with some of the best MMA teams in the business. Expect to see a crazy fight when these two collide on July 6!
