The Redemption of The Dark Order
On December 18, 2019, the last AEW: Dynamite of the year took place. For many, this was one of the worst episodes in Dynamite’s short history. One of the major angles of that episode was The Dark Order attacking The Elite.
After the last Dynamite episode of 2019 ended, many fans and critics compared the angle of The Dark Order attacking The Elite to a WCW angle on its last years. The original plan was for Marty Scrull to debut as “The Exalted One” and with benefit of hindsight, AEW was lucky he decided to stay with Ring Of Honor (ROH).
Since that terrible turn of events, AEW has done a great job turning things around with The Dark Order.
Mr. Brodie Lee as the leader of The DARK ORDER
Brodie Lee, or should I say, Mr. Brodie Lee… has done a tremendous job as the leader of The Dark Order.
Things were a mixed bag at first. Many people said there were many similarities of his new character to that of Vince McMahon and fans and critics were divided by it.
A few months later and Lee has been able to evolve his character and make it his own. His feud with Jon Moxley culminated in an excellent title match at Double or Nothing 2 and helped Lee and his faction big time.
Last week, Lee defeated Cody to become the new TNT champion and with an excellent after-match angle, Lee and The Dark Order are major players for AEW.
BTE
Being The Elite has been a major factor in the redemption of the faction. Lee, Evil Uno, but especially John Silver and Alex Reynolds, have been able to show their more charismatic and comedic sides.
The Dark Order right now are the most popular skit of BTE each week. Reynolds and Silver’s shenanigans are must-see stuff each week.
AEW should consider showing some of their skits on Dynamite because they are really good and more need to see them.
What’s Next?
Lee needs to have a long and solid title reign to solidify his great work so far. A feud with “Hangman” Adam Page seems to be the feud AEW will push him toward at some point.
Evil Uno and Stu Dos are a great tag team and have solid performances but they need an out of this world match that will put them on the next level and that is just a matter of time.
The future looks bright for this charismatic cult.
