The Pillars of All Elite Wrestling

Read Time:2 Minute, 54 Second

The Four Pillar of Heaven (Misawa, Kawada, Kobashi & Taue) were a group of wrestlers who had some of the best matches of all time. They carried AJPW to becoming an all-time great promotion and at one point, were the future and present of AJPW.

While cutting a promo a few weeks ago, MJF mentioned the Four Pillars of AEW (MJF, Allin, Guevara, Jungle Boy) as the future and eventual present of the promotion. Although The Pillars of AEW are talented, it would be unfair to compare them to the Pillars of Heaven, especially considering the legacy the latter left on the business.

But The Pillar’s of AEW will have a similar role in the promotion one day…

All Out

MJF

MJF was the first pillar to main event a PPV (All Out 2020) for a world title match against Jon Moxley. He has since been the most featured on TV for AEW thanks to his character work and promos. Obviously, MJF is the best in that department of the pillars.

He has also defeated two of the four pillars in singles matches in the past. MJF is destined to become the biggest heel of AEW and that day is coming pretty soon. He is also the current leader of his own faction with The Pinnacle.

It wouldn’t be shocking if MJF becomes the first pillar to become world champion in AEW.

Darby Allin

Darby Allin is probably the most popular of the pillars. On social media, you see posts of people wearing his merch or kids dressed like him. Allin is just naturally cool and kids see that. Even CM Punk mentioned that if he was a teenager watching wrestling, Allin would be his favorite wrestler.

What makes Allin so cool is his unique look and daredevil wrestling style that helps him connect with young fans easier than most wrestlers nowadays. Allin became the first pillar of AEW to become champion (TNT Championship) and had a good run.

AEW has also done a great job pairing him with Sting, giving him the deserved superstar rub.

Sammy Guevara

Sammy Guevara is the pillar with the most PPV main events. He currently has two (DON 2020 & 2021). Guevara was also the second pillar to hold gold in the promotion with the TNT title (like Allin). Sammy has improved a lot since joining Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle in terms of in-ring ability and promos.

He has been able to connect with fans thanks to social media. His YouTube vlog certainly helps him with that. Make sure you tune into that, it’s must-see every Tuesday.

Jungle Boy

He’s the youngest of the pillars and has a ways to go… But Jungle Boy has had a great year and just a few months ago, he had a fantastic match where he went toe-to-toe with Kenny Omega. This solidified him as one of the pillars of the future of AEW.

Jungle Boy has great reactions by the crowd and he’s part of a popular group with Jurassic Express. The tag team titles seem to be close in his future too. He has still a lot to improve in aspects of pro-wrestling, especially in the promo department. However, Christian Cage has been helping him out on that and we’ve seen the improvement already.

For a promotion with just two years of existence, AEW is already thinking long term. The Pillars of AEW will carry the promotion one day, that’s for sure.
