Karate Combat 52 goes down in Miami this weekend. The card is stacked with stars ready to make a statement inside the pit. The premier Karate organization has risen to the top of the combat sports world in recent times. Since 2018, the promotion has produced 51 cards across the world.

The rules evolved within the last year and on this card, the promotion will be debuting their newly evolved championship belt to match.

A Stacked Card

The main event features “King Kahn” Shahzaib Rind defending his lightweight title. He takes on former champion Edgars “The Bearslayer” Skrīvers. In addition, former UFC star Robelis Despaigne and sister of UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, Aline Pereira, each make their second walk to the pit.

To add to the fun, former UFC fighters Tyson Nam, Brandon Jenkins, and Lucas Martins will compete along with former TUF winner, Efrain Escudero.

The Main Attractions

Former UFC star, Robelis Despaigne, faces a tough test in Marcos Brigagão who has faced top-level opposition in MMA. Aline Pereira faces off against former boxer and Samurai Fight House flyweight champion, Gisela Luna.

Shahzaib Rind is making his first Karate Combat lightweight title defense. He faces the first Karate Combat lightweight champion, Edgars Skrīvers. Skrīvers has faced off with the who’s who of combat sports. He’s been seen opposite of Song Yadong and Magomed Magomedov in MMA. Edgars has fought on numerous Karate Combat cards, dating back to the fourth event. Rind, may not have the MMA experience… But he has fought in Bare Knuckle Boxing and Kickboxing. He is currently on a 6-fight winning streak under the Karate Combat banner. His most recent bout was against Bruno Assis for the belt.

Pit Submission Series

Karate Combat 52 kicks off with a trio of high-level grappling matches. Daniel Sathler, a black belt under André Galvão faces off against his fellow countryman and former UFC fighter Herbert Burns. Former IBJJ world champion, Samuel Nagai, faces off with a black belt who studied under Melqui Galvão, Fabricio Andrey. Lastly, MMA veteran Lance Palmer faces off against LFA champion and MMA prospect, Richie Lewis. These 3 grappling matches will showcase what the Pit Submission Series has to offer.

Prospect Watch

The people’s main event involves Luis Melendez and Donevin Manuel, who have some built-in beef dating back to Melendez’s win at Karate Combat 47. He took on Manuel’s teammate, Jose Esparza. When they last met, Manuel ended up in a rear naked choke by Karate Combat president, Asim Zaidi. This match is bound to be fireworks.

Additionally, there are several prospects on the card. Harry Gomez makes his Karate Combat debut. He takes on Jakub Wayman who is also debuting off the back of two finishes to start his MMA career. Loxbey Montalvan is a native of Miami, Florida. He is coming off the heels of a 4-fight winning streak inside the pit. Loxbey gets his toughest match to date in Tyson Nam, the former UFC flyweight. The two are squaring off in a 140-pound catchweight fight.
