Pro Wrestler of the Month: The creepy return of Bray Wyatt has fans excited
Every month I take the past month of wrestling into account and pick one wrestler that has been the best and made the biggest impact. Now the WWE Superstar I picked this month is a little out of left field, because he hasn’t wrestled since 2018.
Bray Wyatt has not been on TV for several months, until April, when Firefly Funhouse vignettes started playing.
Right away it became the talk of the wrestling community and whenever he made his return, he was going to be the biggest part of the show. Then on July 15th, “The Fiend” debuted on Raw and laid out Finn Balor. His presentation, his mask, he made a huge impact and was the biggest part of that show.
Then on Raw Reunion, Bray attacked legend Mick Foley, laying him out with the Mandible Claw, Mick’s own move. While there are other wrestlers that have been wrestling good-to-great matches all month, Bray has been the talk of the town. He makes his in-ring return at SummerSlam against Balor, but even without wrestling a match, he has been one of the biggest draws in WWE and wrestling.
This has been one of the best handled returns in recent memory and due to the impact Bray has made, I had to give him the nod for July’s Pro Wrestler of the Month. I think we will get to see what more he will do for WWE this month when he (hopefully) dominates Balor and becomes a dominant presence.
WWE sadly is not extremely creative in 2019, but this has been one of the most creative storylines in years.
