People owe Justin Sysum an apology
“Those who can not remember the past are condemned to repeat it” -George Santayana
Quite the quote, if you asked me, but very true. Wrestling history is like a circle sometimes, and people are often surprised by certain events. But if you study wrestling history, you’ll realize this is not the first time something happens. Time overall is a circle.
Justin Sysum is a professional wrestler from the U.K. and he is the protagonist of this editorial for several reasons. Back in 2018, WWE was forming NXT UK and this would have many negative ramifications for BritWres, but also in European wrestling.
Around the time of the formation of NXT UK, Sysum made a tweet about the dangers of NXT UK and what would happen to BritWres. Unfortunately, many people mocked him and ignored his tweet. Sysum was also critized by wrestlers, especially by those who would end up signing with WWE.

Four years later, and he was right. Word for word, he was right. How could he predict this? Easy… through wrestling history. WWE pulled the same move decades ago with the territories. Those who knew wrestling history, knew what WWE was doing and it was the predictable move. WWE wanted to end the resurrection of WOS and they did. But not only that, they ended up decimating BritWres just like they did the territories.
if you check the tweet from Sysum, you’ll see a lot of people made fun of him for it. But he was right and those same people that mocked him are very quiet right now. Apologies should go his way, not only because he was right. But because he was a class act and never insulted anyone despite receiving insults.
Sysum’s tweet didn’t come from a place of jealousy like some people suggested. It was more about being concerned for British wrestling. BritWres to this day still feels the effects of NXT UK, and what they did to the territory. There’s also other factors too like Speaking Out, but that’s a subject for another time.
The lesson of this story, is that fans, wrestlers and especially wrestling pundits, should learn wrestling history. You might learn and thing or two.
Like I said before, time is a circle.
