Nick Maximov vs. Matheus Scheffel set to headline final Contender Series card

Read Time:57 Second

An exciting light heavyweight bout is scheduled to take place on the final Dana White’s Contender Series event of the season.

As first reported by MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck, Nick Maximov will take on Matheus Scheffel on the Nov. 17th card. The event will take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

Last time out, Maximov submitted Johnny James Jr. in the second-round at LFA 91 in September after his original opponent fell through. Itching for the UFC call shortly after, Maximov got exactly what he asked for with a shot at a UFC contract. Aside from his LFA debut, the Nate Diaz Academy prospect competed four times for Submission Underground, solidifying himself as one of the most active athletes during the pandemic.

Scheffel will finally get his shot a UFC contract coming off a two-fight winning streak. The Brazilian standout has a lengthy record for a young 27-year-old and a knack for finishes. He will look to extend his winning streak in front of Dana White with a victory over the highly touted Maximov.

Catch the action on Nov. 17th, streaming live on ESPN+.
