Mousasi to defend against Lovato Jr. in London

Bellator MMA continued their European invasion by announcing one of its champions will head to London to defend his title in June.

Fight veteran Gegard Mousasi (45-6-2) will put his belt on the line, as he faces undefeated BJJ expert Rafael Lovato Jr. (9-0).

Mousasi has looked flawless since joining Bellator and is 3-0 with the company. Riding a win-streak of 8, Mousasi has been in peak form for years now, with many considering him the worlds best at 185-pounds. Last time out, he put a devastating stop to Rory MacDonald’s ambitions of being a two-weight world champion, dominating and finishing the current welterweight champion despite a close fight being touted.

Flawless is again what he will need to be, as an unbeaten jiu jitsu wizard is coming to try snatch a submission victory and walk away a champion in only his 10th professional fight. Lovato Jr. only turned pro in 2014 and 9 fights later is just one victory away from reaching the pinnacle of the sport.

With Paul Daley and James Gallagher already confirmed for the card, this announcement is a welcome addition to the Bellator schedule, after many UK fight fans felt hard done by as MVP/Daley headed to the US for what was arguably the biggest fight in UK MMA history.

The event will take place at London’s SSE Arena, Wembley to a predictably sold out UK crowd.

Keep your eyes peeled for fight and ticket announcements in the coming weeks.
