Michael Chandler set to appear with Jake Gyllenhaal in upcoming ‘Road House’ remake

Read Time:1 Minute, 59 Second

Most UFC fans got introduced to Michael Chandler in his fight against Dan Hooker. Others perhaps when he was selected to be the backup for the Khabib-Gaethje title fight. Hardcore MMA fans however, knew him from his Bellator days and the multiple wars he had with Eddie Alvarez.

But now, the mainstream masses will know about “Iron” Mike as he gets ready to light up the silver screen in the upcoming Road House remake that features his next opponent, Conor McGregor.

Michael Chandler vs. Jake Gyllenhaal?

Chandler had revealed last year that he was one of the options for the upcoming Hollywood remake of the 80’s cult classic. He shared this information on the PBD Podcast, stating, “Now he’s (McGregor) doing the Road House remake with Jake Gyllenhaal. I actually got called about that part.”

But now, Chandler revealed to me in a thread on X, that he indeed will be seen in the movie opposite Gyllenhaal. This is not only great news for all Chandler fans, but UFC and MMA fans in general.

It is widely known that Conor is an integral part of this remake, and a new character has been written for him. Patrick Swayze’s original was released in 1989 and the remake is scheduled to be released soon, exclusively on Prime Video.

TV Show, Fight & A Movie

Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler seem to still be linked to one another. After his first fight under the UFC banner, Chandler went full Ric Flair on the mic. Apart from calling out Khabib Nurmagomedov, Chandler also called out Conor. But not for the last time…

After his insane KO win over Tony Ferguson, Chandler cut another high-octane promo, calling out the double champ. And Joe Rogan on his podcast said, “It was the best ever, post-fight speech I have ever heard in my life.”

TUF 31 was the last time both lightweight kings were on our TV screens. And their rivalry blossomed into something that fight fans are looking forward to being resolved in the octagon. Now that McGregor is back in the testing pool, this fight could line up perfectly for the highly anticipated UFC 300.

But before that, we’ll get to see both men in Road House.
