Matches to make in the UFC bantamweight division with Dillashaw suspended

Read Time:1 Minute, 28 Second

Dillashaw is gone for two years. Many people mocked Cody Garbrandt for saying TJ was on something, now we all know it was true. All of this means there is gold gathering dust in Dana’s office and plenty of matchup’s we can make for the 135-pound belt.

Marlon Moraes vs Henry Cejudo at UFC 238 for the vacant bantamweight championship

Moraes is on a tear in the division and has defeated most of the Top 5 already, which could explain why Cejudo is attempting to outdo Dillashaw and hold both belts. Moraes has some spiteful punches and mixes this with devastating kicks (ask Jimmie Rivera and Aljamain Sterling about them, their heads are still ringing).

Cejudo did the unthinkable against Demetrious Johnson, dethroning one of the most dominant champions in his weight class the UFC has ever seen. Then when you think he can’t top that, he blasts out Dillashaw in destructive fashion. He’s an Olympic gold medallist so we know he has mat skills, can he stay out of reach of Moraes kicks and nasty punches? If he does, immortality awaits.

Cody Garbrandt vs Raphael Assuncao

There is one guy however that probably deserves to make any fight he wishes: Cody Garbrandt. He put an end to the reign of Dominick Cruz and was riding a 5 fight win streak before he faced TJ. I would love to see him face off against Raphael Assuncao with the winner facing Moraes or Cejudo. However, we will have to see the outcome of the current bantamweight matchups that are booked.

Fights coming soon at bantamweight:

  • Jimmie Rivera vs Peter Yan
  • Aljamain Sterling vs Pedro Munhoz
  • John Lineker vs Cory Sandhagen
