Jesse Kosakowski is strategically planning move back to lightweight after CES 58

Read Time:1 Minute, 17 Second

Jesse Kosakowski fought at lightweight during his amateur career, racking two submission wins on his resume early on before moving to welterweight. After his fight at CES 58 in Hartford, Kosakowski plans to move back to 155 pounds and test the waters, this time as a pro.

Kosakowski is coming off a first-round submission wins at CES 56 against Ryan Jett. After the fight, a title shot against CES welterweight champion was the clear next fight for the Connecticut prospect. However, after careful consideration, Kosakowski has instead taken a fight at 160 pounds before his move back to lightweight. He looks to make it 6 professional wins when he takes on Reggie Merriweather on September 7.

When asked about the potential title shot at welterweight, Kosakowski shared, “I chose not to [take title shot], I was planning on moving down to 155 all along.”

Merriweather is on a 4-fight losing streak and holds a 13-14 MMA record. His opposition, Kosakowski, is perfect with a 4-0 record. Hoping to fall on UFC’s radar before the end of the year, Jesse hopes for another impressive showing under the CES banner.
