Jared Vanderaa vs. Tony Lopez rescheduled for Smash Global in December
Tony Lopez and Jared Vanderaa had already been scheduled to fight in October of this year for RUF.
Now, fans will get the chance to see these heavyweights battle it out like originally planned. Smash Global will put on SMASH IX on Thursday, December 19th. The fight will take place in Hollywood, California starting at 9:00pm PT.
Lopez has fought 3 times since the cancelled bout between the two. He is a very active fighter, fighting 11 times already in 2019. Not all of those fights have been MMA bouts, but a mix of boxing, kickboxing, and MMA.
Not to mention, Lopez is 45 years old. With a record of 64-32 professional MMA record, Lopez is more than a veteran. He’s a top-ranked pro heavyweight in the U.S., and has almost become a gate keeper in the regional scene. Lopez marks the glass ceiling, he separates the fighters who have what it takes, and those who don’t.
Vanderaa will look to prove that he is a top-level talent, and this fight will be the marker. A win here would put Vanderaa in a great spot at the turn of 2020. He is currently 9-4 as a professional and looking to improve to 2-1 in 2019. Vanderaa will likely try to test the chin of the older fighter. Fans of Vanderaa know his hands cause problems for opponents, as he has 6 wins by KO.
This will be a big test for Vanderaa, as he will look to show he is ready for the upper echelon of the heavyweight division.
If Vanderaa can get the win over Lopez in this fight, it will show he is elite talent. If Lopez gets the victory over Vanderaa, it will show that he is still the man to beat before making it to the big leagues.
