G1 Climax 29 Predictions: Finals

Read Time:3 Minute, 7 Second

This edition of the G1 Climax is coming to an end. There’s only 5 days left of this tournament and every match is important to those who aspire to win the G1 Climax and main event Wrestle Kingdom.

Block A

This block as of right now only has 3 wrestlers with chances of winning this block and going to the final.

Kazuchika Okada: So far, this G1 for the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion has been almost perfect with a record of 6-1. Okada only needs one more victory to win the block. His next opponents are:

  • vs EVIL (August 7)
  • vs Ibushi (August 10)

Kota Ibushi: One of the favorites to win this year must win his next to matches and for Okada to lose against EVIL to win the block. His record in this year’s tournament is 5-2. His next matches are:

  • vs Sabre Jr.: (August 7)
  • vs Okada (August 10)

EVIL: He’s the current underdog of the wrestlers left with options of winning this block and going to the finals. EVIL needs for Okada to lose both matches he has left and for Ibushi to lose against ZSJ for him to win the block. His record in this G1 is 4-3. His next matches are:

  • vs Okada (August 7)
  • vs Archer (August 10)

Prediction: The winner of Block A will be between Ibushi and Okada for sure. The main event of the August 10 show will determine the winner of this block. In a very close call, I predict that Kota Ibushi will be the one to win this block, but I would not be surprised if Okada wins this block as well.

Block B

This block has 7 wrestlers active that have a chance to win the block but only 3 of those wrestlers are top candidates.

Tetsuya Naito: The current IWGP Intercontinental Champion is one of the favorites to win the G1 but needs to win his next two matches and for Jon Moxley to lose the two matches that he has left. His record in this G1 is 4-3. His next matches are:

  • vs Cobb (August 8)
  • vs White (August 11)

Jay White: The Switchblade needs to win his next two matches and for Moxley to lose just one match and he’ll win the block. His record in this G1 is 4-3. His next matches are.

  • vs Robinson (August 8)
  • vs Naito (August 11)

Jon Moxley: The current IWGP U.S. Champion needs to win one more match and for Jay White to lose one match and he will win the block. His record in the G1 is 5-2. His next matches are:

  • vs Goto (August 8)
  • vs Robinson (August 11)

Prediction: The winner of this block will be Tetsuya Naito. Analyzing the other two favorites, we can see that Jay White is not ready to main event Wrestle Kingdom and Moxley has an AEW contract. His dates for NJPW are going to be limited.

The Final

This match will be celebrated on August 12. Kota Ibushi vs Tetsuya Naito is the match that will most likely to happen. The winner of this match will be decided by one important factor to consider, if they had the IWGP Heavyweight Champion in their block. The man who didn’t have the champion on their block is the one most likely to win the G1.

With that being said, Tetsuya Naito is the wrestler most likely to win this edition of the G1.
