Five NXT call-ups that need to happen in 2023

Read Time:3 Minute, 18 Second

It has been a rocky few months for WWE NXT as it transitioned to the colorful 2.0 in September of 2021, and recently introduced a mix between new and old. Although the weekly show is not on-fire as it once was, make no mistake, it is still full of prospects and things are certainly heating up…

Read about are five NXT stars that should make the jump to the main roster in 2023:

Carmelo Hayes

Looking at the current NXT roster, there is one superstar in particular that jumps off the page in terms of potential main roster success. Carmelo Hayes has absolutely every tool necessary to thrive on the main roster. His look, presentation, pure wrestling ability, everything about him screams WWE Champion.

There are so many incredible matchups for him on the main roster, and he is more than ready for them. All signs are pointing to Hayes winning the NXT title during WrestleMania week, but it would be awesome to see him on the main roster at some point in 2023.

Bron Breakker

The son of Rick Steiner and nephew of Scott has, in my eyes, outgrown NXT. He has won NXT gold twice, and he’s defeated the best the brand has to offer. I don’t think there is anything left for him… He has started to receive a lofty reception from the NXT faithful, and I think that is because he has done it all.

The longer he stays in NXT, the more you risk him getting stale and decreasing his hype when he makes that main roster debut. In a perfect world, we see him drop the title during WrestleMania weekend and make his debut on the Raw after.

Chase U

If there is something the WWE main roster currently needs, it’s viable and over tag teams. From what we have seen in the Capitol Wrestling Center, as well as NXT going on the road for Vengeance Day, is that Chase U checks both boxes.

Chase U is a great tag team when it comes to audience participation, and I feel they could do a lot with main roster audiences. Their segments are always entertaining, but they are just as fun to watch in the ring.

Cora Jade

These next two superstars are still extremely young, but they are ready to see the bright lights of the main roster this year. At only 22, Cora Jade is without a doubt one of NXT’s hottest prospects. Despite her age, Jade wrestles and carries herself like a veteran. WWE women’s division is starting to heat up, but an addition like Jade would be a big shot in the arm.

I would argue she is one of the best wrestlers in NXT and her character work, whether face or heel, is main roster ready. There are a plethora of great matches waiting for her on Raw and SmackDown, and we’re all ready to see them.

Roxanne Perez

In addition to her former tag team partner and former rival Cora Jade, I think Perez is ready to make the jump. There is nothing WWE loves more than an underdog, and she would fill that role perfectly. She is even younger than Cora Jade at only 21, which is insane to think. We saw her in front of a crowd on the road at NXT Vengeance Day and the crowd was behind her every step of the way. She also had some great moments in the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble.

Whether she goes for the title right away or not, she will have a built-in story of being young, small, and new to the business. She is currently the NXT Women’s Champion, but when she eventually drops that belt, I think she is ready to make the jump and be a major player for years to come.
