[EXCLUSIVE] Megan Olivi & Joseph Benavidez are the textbook definition of a power couple

They started from humble beginnings before earning the ESPN logo in their backdrop. Today, both Megan Olivi and Joseph Benavidez have made names for themselves – in and outside of the fight game.
Olivi is not only a UFC reporter, she has become one of the most recognizable faces associated with the sport. As for Benavidez, he has stayed atop the flyweight division for over five years, currently on the verge of his third opportunity at undisputed gold. With the UFC in the mainstream spotlight, they have become two of the most notable style icons to come out of the UFC.
You can catch Olivi rocking a simple shirt with giant green pants as she struts the arena walkways, mic in hand. You may even see her in all black from head-to-toe with a turtleneck to complete the look. If you ask her husband, he’ll rave about her incredible style while obsessing over each detail that goes into her looks. “She [Olivi] makes the basics look good and has the ability to get a complimentary piece, stunt, and come out of nowhere,” said Benavidez. He’ll also tell you that he often picks out her outfits, when she allows. It’s one of his favorite things to do.
Since women have more styles they are able to portray, Joe’s interests stem beyond men’s clothing. He enjoys putting together different pieces to create new styles, so dressing Megan is easy work for the UFC flyweight. With a big closet, comes big responsibilities, so you’ll often find the power couple having a fashion show at home to help each other choose outfits for fight weeks.

Although there is a goofy side to both, on camera it’s the opposite. “If anyone is immature, it’s me,” said Benavidez. “She is so professional, I have no choice.” Olivi is good at separating her relationships and work, whether it’s with Joe or his opponents. Her dedication to the sport has positively influenced MMA, truly enhancing the professionalism of the sport in the public eye. Joe will be the first to tell you that most people would never know Olivi was dating a fighter by the way she carries herself on camera. “She’s great,” he says.
Many people often share their secrets to successful marriages, but after talking to Joe, I learned quickly that a couple that shops together, stays together. Megan Olivi and Joseph Benavidez are the definition of a power couple: supporting each others’ pursuits and ambitions fully, while striving to improve, individually and together.
