The UFC brings its world-class talent to Kansas City this Saturday, April 26, for what promises to be a night full of bangers. Headlining the card are two surging welterweight stars—No. 7-ranked Ian Machado Garry and No. 13-ranked Carlos Prates—in a bout that could shake up the division. But don’t blink, because the main card also features a can’t-miss featherweight showdown between the dynamic No. 12-ranked Giga Chikadze and the ever-exciting David Onama.

Fiery Featherweights Collide

UFC Kansas City features an exciting stylistic clash between the experienced Georgian striker Giga Chikadze (15-4-0) and David Onama (13-2-0).

Chikadze, 36, wants to get back in the win column. However, he suffered a tough unanimous decision defeat to Arnold Allen in July of last year. The skilled striker has made a name for himself inside the UFC. His highlight reel finishes and fan-friendly fight style set him apart. He is best known for his emphatic knockout win over UFC legends Cub Swanson and Edson Barboza in 2021. His ability to amaze fans hasn’t gone unrecognized, as he holds four performance bonuses to his name. That said, he is now 1-2 in his last three fights and only fighting once per year. His last victory came against the experienced and versatile Alex Caceres in August 2023. Chikadze is in dire need of a statement-making performance this coming Saturday.

Onama, 30, hopes to crack the top fifteen rankings with an impressive win over Chikadze. This is easily the tallest task of his career, given Chikadze’s experience and fight-finishing abilities. Like his opponent, Onama has claimed over two performance bonuses during his time with the UFC. He had a rough start to his UFC run, losing his debut and going 2-2 in his first four fights. But, he engaged in an all-time classic battle with fan-favorite Nate Landwehr in August 2022. Onama showed valiant efforts in this relentless bloodbath but ultimately fell short via majority decision after three hard-fought rounds. Since that loss, he has shown vast improvements in his game. He is now on a three-fight win streak with a chance at the top fifteen rankings.

Fans should not overlook this epic showdown. The stylistic pairing makes for great viewing and can produce the best fight on the entire card.
