Darren Till still has high hopes of defeating middleweight champion Israel Adesanya
Fan favorite and one half of the ‘Smesh Bros’, Darren Till, is still hugely confident in defeating UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
The Liverpool lad has faced some tough adversity over the last several years. Nonetheless, he still prides himself on his bulletproof mindset. Darren Till was touted as the next British fighter to follow in the footsteps of former middleweight champion Michael Bisping. However, many believed Till was thrown to the wolves early in his career due to the aroura surrounding the Scouser.
Till has now partnered with UFC’s rising star Khamzat Chimaev, which has given the 29-year-old a new lease of life. Fans have noticed the change in mindset just by being surrounded by Chimaev.
After returning to England after helping Chimaev prepare for Gilbert Burns, Till has now continued to make headlines. Recently an interview with Submission Radio expressed an interest in still dethroning Israel Adesanya, still having a realistic understating of where he stands within the division.
Darren Till Discusses Israel Adesanya Fight
“Yeah, I feel like Adesanya’s a long way off,” Till said. “I feel like I just got to get a few wins under my belt and prove how good I am to the people again. Obviously, as soon as I get that title fight and win, I know I can beat Adesanya. The sky’s the limit then. The possibilities are endless.
“And I’ve just got to work hard and stay humble and do the right things and have a good supportive group around me, which I’ve got now, you know, especially with my newfound venture in Block Asset and these guys. These guys are going to great lengths to look after me in a special way, and it’s humbling for me. I’m a humble man, and it’s humbling when people really want to take care of your well being.” – Quotes via MMA Junkie.
Till now stands at (18-4-1) in his professional MMA career, with his next move still up in the air. After Till’s monumental victory in his backyard of Liverpool against Stephen Thompson in 2018, ‘The Gorilla’ has won just one fight since then and lost four. With that being said, those losses can’t be looked at and criticized. Till was defeated by Robert Whittaker by one vital takedown and fought Derek Brunson with a torn ACL.
It’s clear that Till can hang with the best in the world. Who will be the man to welcome him back to the UFC Octagon?
