Dana White hints at Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic happening this summer
Per Dana White himself, this summer should be incredible for UFC fans. Even potentially giving us the return of both Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.
“Our lineup for this summer is incredible. I’m hoping that Jon Jones is gonna be a part of that lineup this summer… Stipe makes sense,” Dana White told TMZ.
This is a likely matchup, and one many fans and media members alike have been speculating could be next. This is largely due to Francis Ngannou’s contract dispute with the UFC. Although, he is also recovering from injuries he entered the Ciryl Gane fight with in January of this year.
Jon Jones vs. Stipe next for an interim heavyweight title?
It’s seemed like a millennia has passed since we last saw Jon Jones (26-1, 20-1 UFC) perform inside the octagon. It was 2020 when we last saw him fight. The bout was against Dominick Reyes, and it went to a controversial decision. Some fans thought Reyes had clearly won the first three rounds. Nonetheless, it was “Bones” who would be crowned the victor.
In a surprising move, he vacated the title. Basically saying goodbye, as he had plans to move up to the heavyweight division and wanted to really take his time. Several scandals later, including a now-infamous bodycam video of his arrest surfacing, we still haven’t witnessed the return of Jon Jones.
Stipe Miocic (20-4, 14-4 UFC) last fought in March of 2021 against Francis Ngannou. This fight resulted in a terrible outcome for Miocic, who was knocked out cold by the current champion.
Although he’s been sidelined by the UFC despite wanting the trilogy fight with Ngannou, Miocic would surely take the interim title fight against Jones just because if he won, he’d have to get his trilogy fight with “The Predator”.
Are you ready for Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic, or do you want to see a different matchup for either fighter’s return?
