Conor McGregor set to return against Cowboy Cerrone at UFC 246
The long talked about return to the Octagon for Conor McGregor is close to being finalized.
ESPN recently reported that McGregor has signed a contract to fight Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 246 on January 18 in Las Vegas. Cerrone’s management team says he has agreed to the fight after signing a new exclusive deal with the UFC.
The bout will be a welterweight contest.
McGregor (21-4) has not fought in the UFC since losing to lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018. The 31-year-old Irishman announced last month he would return in January.
Cerrone (36-13) is coming off a knockout loss to Justin Gaethje in September. Cowboy is currently on a two-fight skid after losing to Tony Ferguson back in June. This will be his 34th bout with the UFC.
