Conor McGregor and his cryptic tweets: ‘Dublin, December 14th’
Conor McGregor posted a tweet recently simply saying “Dublin, December 14th,” which has naturally led to a lot of speculation.
Many people are interpreting this as the “Notorious” one saying he will be fighting in Dublin this December. Obviously that’s a problem, because UFC 245 is that day in Las Vegas. I think people are reading this tweet incredibly wrong. I don’t believe he is saying he will be fighting in Dublin, I think he’s telling Dublin he’s fighting on that day.
As it usually does with Conor, this just leads to more questions. Mainly if (and that’s a big if) Conor headlines 245 in Vegas, who stands on the other side of the Octagon? Khabib and Tony are finally on a collision course, the Cowboy fight seems dead and Conor seemed to silence Dustin, so that seems dead in the water.
So, Who?
Justin Gaethje. Conor told Ariel Helwani during his SportsCenter interview that he was originally planning to fight “The Highlight” in July, before he broke his hand. If Conor fights at the end of this year, Justin is the best option for his return.
I don’t care which side of the McGregor train you’re on, I don’t think any MMA fan wouldn’t want to see this fight. There is no confirmation of Conor’s return at this time, but this tweet has given his fans something to be excited about. We have seen a lot of empty callouts from the Irishman since his loss at UFC 229. However, I think this one hold’s a little bit more significant because instead of a name, it has an actual date.
