Cody Garbrandt returns, fights Pedro Munhoz on stacked UFC 235 card in Las Vegas
Former bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt will make his return to action at UFC 235 against Pedro Munhoz on March 2 inside the T-Mobile Arena.
UFC president Dana White announced the fight via ESPN on Sunday. Garbrandt will make his first appearance in 2019, after back-to-back knockout losses to current 135-pound champion, TJ Dillashaw. Garbrandt will look to begin his climb back up the division’s ladder, returning against #9 ranked Munhoz who is on a two-fight win streak. With a 6-1 record over his past seven fights, Munhoz has proven to be one of the toughest competitors in the 135-pound division. He’s gets to challenge a former champion, which will be his biggest test to date.
UFC 235 is expected to feature the light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who is making a quick return to take on Anthony Smith. In the co-main event, Kamaru Usman gets his first shot at UFC gold against the welterweight king, Tyron Woodley.
Below is a list of matches that are also booked for the stacked card:
Robbie Lawler (#6) vs Ben Askren
Tecia Torres (#7) vs Weili Zhang
Diego Sanchez vs Mickey Gall
Zabit Magomedsharipov (#14) vs. Jeremy Stephens (#6)
Holly Holm (#2) vs. Aspen Ladd (#7)
Ovince Saint Preux (#11) vs. Misha Cirkunov (#14)
Gina Mazany vs. Macy Chiasson
