Cage Warriors 186: Main Card Preview

Read Time:3 Minute, 18 Second

This Friday marks the start of the biggest MMA weekend of the year for the UK. Headlined by UFC London, where Leon Edwards faces Sean Brady, the action kicks off a day earlier with a stacked Cage Warriors 186 card—continuing the tradition of Cage Warriors setting the stage.

The event features two championship fights and the return of both Hardwick brothers. George and Harry will defend their respective lightweight and featherweight titles, with Harry headlining against LFA veteran Javier Garcia and George taking on Brazil’s Samuel Silva. Beyond the title fights, the card is loaded with top prospects, including Nik Bagley, Will Currie, Tariq Pell, and Jawany Scott.

The Fabulous Hardwick Boys

The Hardwick brothers may very well be the top two pound-for-pound fighters in Cage Warriors. Their presence on the same card isn’t just a novelty—it’s a major talking point. It’s also a fortunate turn of events, as lightweight champion George was originally slated to compete at Cage Warriors 184 last week. When his opponent, Lucas Clay, withdrew due to medical reasons, “King George” opted to wait a week, setting the stage for the full Hardwick showcase at the Indigo.

A win for either brother could be the catalyst for their next big step. For George, a victory would set a new record for Cage Warriors lightweight title defenses. Despite injury setbacks since his last Contender Series appearance, he’s likely done enough to earn another shot. The same goes for Harry—if he secures his second title defense, he’ll have a strong case for a move up. With the timing aligning perfectly, both brothers could find themselves fighting in front of Dana White this summer.

One to Watch

Nik Bagley is a fighter I highlighted on this very site just a few months ago. Now 6-1 with four consecutive rear-naked choke finishes, he looks to extend his streak against former title challenger Keweny Lopes on Friday. A win would put Bagley in prime position for a title shot against Harry Hardwick. Alternatively, if Hardwick moves on to the next level, Bagley would almost certainly find himself in the mix for a vacant title fight. He’s also expressed interest in competing in one of Cage Warriors’ one-night Prizefighter tournaments, which have become a regular feature.

However, Lopes presents a significant challenge. A former CW title challenger and Shooto Brasil champion, he brings double the experience of his Ukrainian opponent. His recent loss to Harry Hardwick was his first since 2016, making him a major test for Bagley, who is looking to take a big step forward in his career.
