BREAKING: McGregor not training with Kavanagh, eyeing June return

Read Time:1 Minute, 57 Second

According to sources, Conor McGregor is eyeing return in June after serving NSAC suspension.

Although McGregor’s opponent remains unknown, both he and Donald Cerrone are hyping a potential matchup promoting Proper 12 vs Budweiser. McGregor also took to social media saying he’s up for Nate Diaz trilogy fight or a bout against Anderson Silva.

Back in December, Kavanagh mentioned that he and McGregor have not spoken since night of UFC 229. He also revealed needing to be convinced to train McGregor again, proving they have begun distancing from one another.

“He has a wife and two kids now and I don’t want him taking more hits than he needs to,” said Kavanagh. “Khabib hit him with a punch in that fight that he has never been hit with in his career. And even Superman slows down at some stage.”

Since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor has been seen on social media training with different coaches at various gyms. Per sources, McGregor and Kavanagh recently had a falling out and McGregor is not training at SBG Ireland at this moment.

McGregor’s main striking coach also announced his departure from SBG Ireland back in November. After 15 years, Coach Owen Roddy publicized he departure from SBG Ireland to focus on starting his own gym. Roddy took to his Instagram to break the news and even received a sendoff from Kavanagh.

Roddy, who retired from fighting in 2012, gained popularity throughout his years cornering McGregor. The work that Roddy has put in with the former champ has led to multiple world titles and massive paydays. While Roddy seems to be leaving on good terms, his departure raises questions regarding future work with McGregor.

Conor has been seen training with Fabio Leopoldo of Morumbi Jiu Jitsu Academy, Roan Carneiro of American Top Team in Atlanta, and Peter Queally at SBG Naas. It remains unknown if McGregor plans to return to SBG Ireland or who will corner him for his next fight.

Fight fans will have to wait and see how this plays out when McGregor’s next scrap is announced.
