Breaking down the likelihood of CM Punk making a WWE return
The possibility of CM Punk returning to WWE is a subject gaining a lot of steam lately, especially because AEW could buyout Punk’s contract and let him go. While fans love speculating about this, there are several factors to consider about Punk making a WWE return…
Triple H & CM Punks Relationship
One of the major roadblocks regarding this subject is Triple H. It’s no secret that CM Punk and Triple H don’t like each other very much, so that makes a possible return a bit complicated.
Punk is close friends with Paul Heyman and Adam Pearce, so maybe they could help convince Punk to let bygones be bygones. But, they might not be enough to convince him if they failed to the first time.
Saudi Arabia
Another roadblock is Saudi Arabia… CM Punk has been vocal about his disapproval for the deal between WWE and Saudi Arabia, and if CM Punk returns, he would be expected to wrestle there. Punk might not be comfortable doing so, so this could be a deal breaker.
It makes everything even more complicated, however, this could change if they offered him not having to wrestle on the Saudi Arabia shows.
Resolving Issues in AEW
Another possibility is if AEW, The Elite, and CM Punk resolve their issues. But this scenario is least likely to happen, especially because of Ace Steel’s firing. Steel is personal friend of Punk, and a former coach in AEW.
Losing Punk is a major loss for AEW, especially because he is one of the strongest draws they currently have on their roster. This possibility depends on how the current investigation regarding the backstage altercations turns out.
Injuries
Another thing that needs to be discussed, is CM Punk’s injuries. Currently, he is expected to be out for at least 9 months after he tore an arm muscle at All Out during his match against Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. This gives Punk and the situation time to cool down.
Several weeks have passed, and we still don’t know much about the future of Punk and The Elite. The whole situation is messy, and could potentially be moved to the courtroom. However, nothing is confirmed yet. Only time will tell how this all plays out…
When do The Elite return AEW? Does Punk return after injury? Or does he entertain the possibility of making a WWE return down the line? Let us know in the comments!
