BREAKING: Chris Duncan vs. Manuel Gaxhja OFF tonight’s DWCS card
Revealed minutes ago on Instagram, Scottish lightweight Chris Duncan confirmed that his Contender Series bout with Manuel Gaxhja is off just hours before it was scheduled to start.
“Unfortunately my fight is off due to my opponent pulling from stomach issues” wrote Duncan. “Why waist the greatest opportunity in combat sports over a sore stomach I don’t know.”
Gaxhja missed weight on Monday, clocking in at 160.5 pounds – 4 and a half pounds over the divisions limit. It appears as if his weight cutting issues extended further, likely being the cause behind his decision to pull out of tonight’s scheduled bout.
With misses in weight being a rarity on the Contender Series, it is not known where the promotion will go from here.
Tonight’s Contender Series card will go ahead with four fights, headlined by Lucas Sudolski and Ihor Potieria.
