Bellator 282 Kickoff Press Conference Quotes
Bellator 282 transpires on June 24th from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Among a stacked Bellator MMA card, Gegard Mousasi defends his middleweight title against Johnny Eblen and Danny Sabatello clashes with Leandro Higo in the Bantamweight Grand Prix.
I took part in the Bellator 282 Kickoff Press Conference. Excerpts from my interactions are below.
Danny Sabatello
If there’s interest in a possible Raufeon Stots bout in this Grand Prix–
“Yeah, absolutely. Mainly just because people are already talking about it and they’re saying he has good trash talk. He has fucking terrible trash talk. All that kid does is stutter. But again, I do have to get in there on June 24th and take care of business with (Leandro) Higo. This isn’t a fight that I’m taking lightly even though he does suck. But in fighting, anything can happen. People can slip on a banana peel. Crazier stuff has happened in the world.”
“I got twenty five minutes and if I slip up for just one second, it could mean lights out. But that’s not going to happen. So I will face Raufeon. It’s going to be probably one of the best fights in Bellator history. Just given the stakes and everything. It’s going to be very exciting. Again, that guy is a guy that I don’t think has very many real skills. But he does like to talk trash. He does talk English.”
“So it will be good banter back and forth than it is with this fucking clown right here (points at Higo). But yeah first thing’s first June 24th I have to put on an electric show at the Mohegan Sun. I’m hoping to sell that bitch out. If you’re a fight fan, you’ve got to go to that fucking arena. You’ve got to feel it live. When you see me fight live, it’s different than on the TV… If you’re in that arena, it’s going to be electric June 24th.”

Danny Sabatello on if he’s ever going to join AEW–
“Right now I need to accomplish my goals in fighting. I got big, big goals in fighting. I want to be the best for a while. Want to dominate these motherfuckers. I don’t just like winning. I like torturing them and dominating them. So I’ve got to do what I got to do in fighting and then who knows after that? I don’t like to plan too much for that. All I really care about right now is fighting.”
“All I think about is fighting, all I train for is fighting. I don’t even give a fuck about fake wrestling, any of that, nothing. Right now my whole focus is beating the shit out of this fucking pussy right here (points to Leandro Higo). This little bitch and then that’s it. Maybe I will go into WWE or AEW, whatever it is. But right now I’m focused on beating the fuck out of Higo June 24th in Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Arena.”
Gegard Mousasi
On the importance of working with ONE Middleweight World Champion Reinier de Ridder–
“Well yeah, he’s the middleweight and light heavyweight double champ at ONE FC. I’m training with heavy guys. They’re all heavyweights, 240. I can deal with those guy. So it’s going to make me only better when I fight at middleweight.”
Johnny Eblen
Eblen on the importance of Functional Patterns and how it underpins his martial arts techniques–
“Keeps me training. Keeps me training at a high level. I’m not really sidelined with injuries. It’s a great training program that keeps me healthy and moving better. Getting better as I age.”
