With Dana White’s Contender Series news starting to circulate, one name to consider is undefeated Canadian prospect, Anthony Romero.

“The Genius” def. Jake Miller in 58 seconds of the first round via TKO to capture the inaugural Ohio Combat League lightweight championship. Shortly after the fight, Anthony Romero (7-0 MMA) was quick to let everyone know he’s ready for the big leagues.

After the big win, Romero’s resume improves to 15-straight wins. And to top it off, he has not tasted defeated in 5-years. With his opponents having a combined record of 55-14, a UFC call could be right around the corner. Perhaps on the upcoming season of Contender Series this summer.

Anthony has been honest about not being able to fight on DWCS last season due to his contract with King of the Cage. Regardless, he honored his contract with a unanimous decision win over Troy Wittman. Now, he is now a free agent ready for a crack at the upper echelon of the division.

Romero is currently the 1st-ranked Pro Lightweight in New York and the 7th-ranked Pro Lightweight in the U.S Northeast. After his big title win at the Arnold Sports Festival, prepare for the Ohio regional rankings to shift a bit. At only 23-years-old, “The Genius” could be the next fighter to represent Canada at the UFC-level.

Keep a close eye on the young prospect.
