Anderson Silva set to fight Tito Ortiz at Triller event
Triller busted on to the boxing scene with Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren in April of this year. While the mix of music and fighting was divisive, it was nice to see a company doing something fresh. The company recently announced that Oscar De La Hoya would make his return under the promotion’s banner next month.
The Golden Boy will take on UFC veteran Vitor Belfort. News broke today that Belfort would be joined by more UFC alumni on the same event. Anderson Silva will face Tito Ortiz in a 195-pound boxing bout which is slated for ten rounds.
The event will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on September 11th. The initial report came from MMA Fighting and was confirmed by MMA Junkie. Triller has yet to make an official announcement.
The 46-year-old Anderson Silva recently made his return to boxing in which he won a split decision over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The former middleweight champion and arguable greatest of all time ended his iconic UFC run in October 2020 following a loss to Uriah Hall.
Tito Ortiz also has a winning record on the MMA side of things. Ortiz submitted Alberto El Patron in December 2019. He is also 46 and has not lost a fight since September 2015.
