AJ Agazarm has ‘a few tricks’ up his sleeve for Adel Altamimi at Bellator 238
AJ Agazarm is focused on a big 2020 as he prepares for Bellator 238
AJ Agazarm (2-1-0) is “focused on a big 2020” and his year begins at Bellator 238 on January 25th. The featherweight is on a 2-fight win streak, and will face Adel Altamimi.
Throughout his pro career, “Leão” has only fought with Bellator. Since joining the organization in 2019, he has suffered one loss against Jesse Roberts, and has earned two wins against Jacob Landin and Jonathan Quiroz.
Adel “Kyokushin” Altamimi (8-6-0) is a 30-year-old featherweight, fighting out of Black House MMA in California. Since making his Bellator debut in 2019, Altamimi has one win against Brandon McMahan (5-8-0) and one loss against Salim Mukhidinov (7-3-0).
The Scrap’s Drake Riggs had the opportunity to speak with Agazarm as he prepares for his upcoming bout. Riggs noted that “Leão” was hard on himself following his last fight. The bout against Jonathan Quiroz went to a unanimous decision. “I’m a perfectionist that’s the problem”.

Agazarm was disappointed with the match because he wanted “a three-round war” against the “tough guy”. He continued, “It’s a true test to a fighter when he can go three rounds, but not only go three rounds but consistently improve as the rounds go on.”
Agazarm has prepared himself for war this time stating, “for this one, I have a few tricks up my sleeve. I’m getting ready to do some fun and exciting things out there”. This will be Agazarm’s second fight at 145 lbs.
“I attribute a lot of that to cutting out meat. I stopped eating meat at the start of last year,” said Agazarm. “Since then I see myself more, you know, more fierce more agile and my limbs and my movement and energy levels are really top notch.”
“I’m taking on a tough guy; he’s got two black belts. He’s a dual black belt. He’s got a black belt in karate and a black belt in Jiu Jitsu. So, he’s putting it all on the line and you gotta appreciate that.”
The fighter has clear goals in sight but is following the path one fight at time. “It’s only a matter of time before I’m in the main event and I’m fighting for the Bellator World Championship belt, and then I’ll have that belt,” said Agazarm. “None of that’s going to be possible until I do my diligence here this weekend, so it starts with this guy.”
