Ahead of Bellator 238, Ava Knight is focused on MMA in 2020
Ava Knight has been a professional Boxer since 2007 and has 26 fights. However, she has traded the ring for a cage and made her Bellator debut last year at Bellator 228.
Knight will step back into the cage this weekend when she takes on Emilee Gettys at Bellator 238. The Scrap’s Drake Riggs had the opportunity to talk to her about her second MMA bout.
Just three days after her MMA debut, Knight competed and won a boxing match. Knight has a lot of opportunities to compete, and she is taking advantage of them.
“I’m just doing what I love to do right now and I’m taking advantage of the fact that I have all these opportunities,” she told The Scrap. Although Knight is a decorated boxer, she intends on sticking to the world of Mixed Martial Arts going forward. “I want to stay with MMA and learn so much more.”
The 31-year old says she doesn’t feel the need to focus on boxing right now because there’s nobody she’s worried about. Going into her fight on January 25, she has high confidence in her striking abilities. “I have confidence in myself saying that I probably have the most accurate and best punches In the game,” she said.
Despite her boxing background, she feels a lot of people will doubt her, but it does not bother her. “I’m just going to fight, I am here to fight.” The main event of Bellator 238 will be a Championship bout between Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Julia Budd. Knight is honored to be on the same card as those two women and spoke about the longevity of Cyborg. “Cyborg has been around a long time and has been beating up people for so long.”
You can catch Knight this weekend on the Bellator 238 main card, exclusively on DAZN.
