AEW Dynamite Week 25 Review: The Exalted One arrives

Read Time:3 Minute, 53 Second

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite took place at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. The show was produced in a closed set because of what is going on with the Coronavirus worldwide.

While the show did not have fans, AEW had the great idea to put wrestlers from their roster as the audience to give the show energy.

Cody’s Promo

The episode started with a promo from Cody. He talked about the current events going on with the Coronavirus and to listen to science. After that, Cody talked about The Elite and how they are not on top of their game.

Kenny Omega and Matt Jackson came out and made brief, but great, promos about unity. Adam “Hangman” Page also came out and made a nod.

Overall great promos, but also they addressed what’s happening in the best way possible.

Lucha Bros def. Best Friends W/ Orange Cassidy

This was an entertaining match. Lucha Bros and Best Friends work so work together.

After the match ended, Tony Schiavone interviewed Best Friends and they challenged The Lucha Bros to a parking lot match for next week.

Hikaru Shida def. Penelope Ford, Riho, and Kris Statlander

This match was great. It seems like AEW is giving Penelope Ford a push going forward. The best spot of this match was without a doubt the poisoned-rana from Ford to Statlander.

Ford and Statlander have great potential. They are green in some aspects, they just need more ring time to improve.

After the match ended, Schiavone interviewed Colt Cabana and he put over Ford. Kip Sabian and Cabana exchanged some words, this could be the next program for both wrestlers.

Tony Schiavone interviews Jon Moxley

Schiavone interviewed Jon Moxley outside and this was great. Moxley talked about not being medically cleared and how he wanted to have his revenge against The Inner Circle.

After the promo ended, Moxley left in the Ford GT he stole from Chris Jericho a few weeks ago. Credit to AEW for maintaining the continuity of stuff which is always great to have on a show.

Jurassic Express def. The Butcher & The Blade

This match was good. Both teams did a great job in this one. The only negative of this match is the ending that felt a bit awkward.

Jurassic Express really needed this win going forward in the tag team division and as possible contenders for the belts.

The Identity of the Exalted One is Revealed!

The Dark Order came out and made a good promo about The Exalted One but they were interrupted by SCU and they talked about The Exalted One not being real. Out of nowhere, a video began playing that revealed Brodie Lee (formerly known as Luke Harper) as the leader of The Dark Order.

Lee’s promo as the leader of the cult-like faction was good. Overall this was a great debut for him and things look for the better for The Dark Order going forward.

Tony Schiavone interviews Jake Roberts & Lance Archer

Jake Roberts made a great promo about Cody and his client Lance Archer. After the promo, a video package of Lance Archer’s abilities in a backyard ring was great and made him look dominant.

The pairing of Roberts and Archer was a fantastic idea. The build for the upcoming Cody vs. Archer feud has been on point.

The Inner Circle (Jake Hager, Ortiz & Santana) W\ Sammy Guevara def. Cody, Matt Jackson, and Adam Page

Before the match began, Sammy Guevara sang along to Chris Jericho’s theme song and this was really funny and one of the highlights of the show. Jericho was on commentary and once more he was great in this position.

The match was good and served its purpose to build toward the upcoming Blood & Guts match. The only negative would be that it went a little too long.

After the match ended, The Inner Circle members made great promos and talked about having the advantage going into Blood & Guts. Out of nowhere, Vanguard 1 appeared and we saw the debut of Matt Hardy in AEW. Hardy will be a part of the Blood & Guts match as he’ll fill in for Nick Jackson.

Rating

Overall this was one of AEW’s best episodes of Dynamite. The wrestlers of the AEW roster working as the crowd was really fun and helped the show a lot. The match of the night was the 4-way women’s match.

A special thank you to the production crew, the wrestlers and all the people involved in this week’s episode of Dynamite and helping everybody watching feel positive in the current times we are living.
