Prospects to Watch: This week from Regional Scene

Read Time:3 Minute, 24 Second

Watching the superstars of MMA is always entertaining, but following a prospect is an experience unlike any other. From their pro debut to being signed by the UFC, every MMA fighter goes through an unbelievable journey. The problem is finding prospects throughout regional scenes across the globe.

Do not panic because The Scrap has you covered with weekly coverage for prospects on the regional scene. Therefore, let’s take a look at six prospects to watch that fight this week!

Austin Bashi – XFC 45

First and foremost, Austin Bashi has begun to dominate the regional scene. Holding a record of 3-0, he made his pro debut in December 2020. At 19 years old, Bashi has a well-rounded fight style that could evolve into world championship potential.

With that being said, Bashi should be in no rush as he continues to develop. If you have not seen him live, he will fight next on August 6 at XFC 45 against James Dunn (3-3). Although Dunn may have a salty record, his experience will surely be a step up in competition for Bashi.

All things considered, XFC 45 will offer Bashi the opportunity to display his skills once again.

Tom Pagliarulo – CES 63

Secondly, Tom Pagliarulo is the newest fighter out of New England to make a name for himself. After building an amateur record of 5-1, Pagliarulo turned pro five months ago at CFFC 92. Not only did he win, but his third-round TKO finish was impressive because it came by corner stoppage.

Training with Rob Font, Calvin Kattar, and head coach Tyson Chartier, Pagliarulo has a great team around him to succeed. Pagliarulo’s next fight goes down on August 7 at CES 63 against Josh Hardy (0-0). With a win against Hard, Paliarulo will successfully take the next step towards the UFC.

Goat Shed Academy has four prospects to watch at Titan FC 71

Jaret Betancourt

If you have not heard of the Goat Shed Academy by now, it’s time to get put on notice. Luckily, Goat Shed has four prospects to watch at Titan FC 71 on August 6. The first prospect from Goat Shed is 23-year-old flyweight Jaret Betancourt. Holding a record of 2-0, Betancourt has finished both of his opponents in the first round. He has improved vastly in his 2-0 pro fights, and training at Goat Shed has a lot to do with his success.

Adrian Garcia

In addition, the second prospect from Goat Shed also comes from the flyweight division. Holding a record of 4-1, Adrian Garcia may have the most potential out of the South Florida gym. Garcia is 23 years old and continues to rack up wins since turning pro in February 2019. Although undefeated prospects are intriguing, Garcia learned a lot from his lone loss. Going into Titan FC 71, he has the opportunity to get this third straight finish in front of his home crowd.

Richie Lewis

Furthermore, Goat Shed Academy still has two more fighters competing at Titan FC 71. Richie Lewis looks to advance his record 2-0 against Ernesto Rodriguez (2-0). After wrestling at Rutgers University, Lewis chose to transition to MMA. He won his pro debut in March 2021 and now has the opportunity to perform against a step-up in competition. Although Lewis has gone underrated compared to other Goat Shed fighters, never underestimate the abilities of a D1 wrestler transitioning to MMA.

Ryan Kuse

Last but not least, the most marketable fighter at Goat Shed, Ryan Kuse, returns for his fourth pro fight. For those that have not seen Kuse fight, his nickname “Third Street Savage” is the best way to describe him. He usually walks out with a ski mask on and shows up ready to finish his fights. After making his pro debut in August 2020, Kuse is 3-0 with two finishes by KO/TKO. He now has the chance to put on a show against Amir Naser Kazemi (1-1) at Titan FC 71, with his entire team cheering him on.
